Sounds like your surgeon is'nt to sure about what he is doing if he couldnt find the cyst after it broke. Volar ganglions are easy to find, especially if they are located near a tendon. We operate on people for ganglions all the time, and wether they break or are in tact when we open you up, we always find them. If it does come back, maybe you'll get lucky and it will not, I would definately go see another Dr. for a second opinion first. Seriously, this should not have happened.
