LIHUE, Hawaii — A 13-year-old surfing star had her left arm bitten off by a shark while surfing in clear water Friday morning on Kauai's North Shore, and her best friend's father was credited with saving her life by using a surf leash as a tourniquet.

sharks are an awsome force. in the cape they own every thing that swims out there, the new jackass or "wildboys" they saw some great whites , i dont think there are tiger sharks around the states? correct me if wrong, tiger sharks kill more then great whites.

Really, could you tell me a little more? I am a shark fanatic. I don't want to be rude or insensitive, but I am highly curious. Was it a white shark, what was he/she doing at the time.? Is there a link to an article I could read?


There are Tiger sharks in the US. Mainly in the warmer waters of the Atlantic....Say North Carolina and down. Tiger sharks are pure beasts...I guarantee it was a Tiger that took this young gal's arm. And Tiger sharks do not kill more than White sharks. The species that is believed to have killed the most humans is the Bull shark…But it is really tough to gauge since the third world keeps shady statistics on such matters.
