## SUPPORT THE TROOPS ##

Here is a good start...

http://www.americansnipers.org/index.html

I will add some links soon. That $100 you are going to spend getting drunk this weekend? Buy some comfort food/items for those bad men and women in harm's way.

I have sent money to the 1/91 and Ranstadt's Militia. (I'll explain later.) I will continue to do the same until our soldiers are no longer in harm's way.

For those of you deployed, send me wish lists and I will do everything I can to get the stuff to you.

If you have any questions pm me.

Re: You really want to support the troops?

Done.

btw, this isnt 1965. No reasonable person isnt supporting the troops. Just that no reasonable person is supporting the policies they're being used as cannon fodder for.

I madison-avenued the title and stickied it btw

Ah, the stickyness coincided with my reply. Good form.

By "done," I meant "Mountain, I donated some money."

I don't support the war we are in now in Iraq, but I definitely admire and support anyone who would voluntarily sign up to risk their life for this country.

More than once, when I go to the movies in LA, people boo when a National Guard or Marine commercial comes up.

$12BILLION a MONTH and US soldiers still don't have adequate equipment?

Where's that money going?

Instead of a quick fix (donate $) - demand the Govt stop this b.s. about 'we need more funding for the troops Congress' and start spending some of that ON the troops.

I'm paying my taxes (way more than $100) and it's clearly not getting to those who take the most risks.

You already paid say $500 last year "to the troops" - and it didn't get "to the troops". That should make anyone mad.

I just spent 6 months activated, and clearly saw where that money was going. Hint: It wasn't going to the troops. We still had the finest in WWII equipment.

I wouldnt go that far (and I assume you are being at least a little bit facetious) however the benefit of these types of programs is that the money ends up directly in the right hands.

I know lots of soldiers, they have plenty of money for stuff. If they didn't blow it on the female privates that turned tricks they could afford neccesities.

I support the troops but some of the guys are idiots

I would attribute that to them seeing the ad as representing the pentagon/administration/gubment/etc - not the soldiers.

you wont hear any booing if they had an ad for veterans groups, or a newsclip of returning soldiers

I understand what you are saying Razor. Thanks for the service as well.

All I am trying to do is to get more people involved and actually supporting the troops. I have no desire for this to turn into a political thread.

The soldiers that are deployed need our help and support.

We should have two threads, one floating about C&C and another stickied. Cause I'm serious, half of EF doesn't read stickies.

Done. :)

Kind of related topic: if you have any extra magazines around that you want to toss or donate, the VA hospitals in your area will gladly give them a new home. The vets like to read, too. :)

Hooah.

But energy must also be spent (not by you, but these organizers and anyone who organizes these organizations) on getting out the message : that $12B a MONTH to haliburton, saudis, dyncorp, raytheon, lockheed, iraqi politician kickbacks - while soldiers are forced to use hand-me-downs (putting their lives in jeopardy) - is UNACCEPTABLE.

On the good news: Healthcare for army soldiers has improved. Tho I expect this to end, when the war ends - and people start forgetting like they did with those vietnam vets.

Did they ever find the $10 billion that we gave to the Iraqi government that mysteriously vanished? I would gladly donate money to buy the troops plane tickets so they could come home.

You have no idea what the care packages do for these guys over there....My nephew loves getting and sharing his gifts with his squad.

Great thread.

Post up an address and let's send him and his unit an EF package.

I have lists from soldiers of stuff they want and need...

I had to laugh when he said that Sweedish Fish were BIGGGG over there. Baby wipes, socks, pop tarts, magazines, tuna packets(for when on patrol),nuts, Peanut butter crackers, protein bars. THEY love it all.

Also, he mentioned that there are a lot of guys who get NO care packages from their families(broke my heart). I send a lot of stuff over for those guys too. He gave me a name of a soldier who took care of the guys who got little or nothing while there- SPC Perez
3Rd PLT, 15 EN Co.
LSA Anaconda
APO, AE 09391

My nephew is with the same unit above- we take good care of him, so no need to do for him. Thanks though.!

I send the guys a package once every two months. He has stuff comng alll the time from our family.

I never deter anyone from donating. Heck, I LOVE going to the USO! The folks there are a godsend (esp when you're being treated like dogcrap by NCO's all day).

Now for you: Care Packages vs Dragonskin Armor

Which do you think is more important and could save your nephews life?

Remember that "Pass this bill and provide money for the Troops Congress!" fiasco by Bush last year? Where do you think that money went?

Seriously Razor, try to keep the political crap out of this thread.

There are plenty of other threads to bring it up.

Vixensghost just couldn't resist. Go blame her!

My work is sending a care package to one of my co-workers husband who is serving over there for the third time. One of my friends here has a hubby that is a manager at Hooters and he is sending over 100 Hooters calendars for those guys. I bet they will be happy about that. :)

The armor for sure.

I was just adding that it's nice for the guys to have care packages sent over too. As I stated, several of the guys in my nephews squad GET ziltch from their family while there. IF I can bring a smile to their face with a taste from home, I'll do it.

Bush has lost all my respect. But, these guys and dolls can't do a damn thing about it. I'll support them ANY WAY I can!

One of my employee's brother is in Afghanistan. We sent him a care package (canadian soldiers have top notch body armor so no need for that). Of course, I included some pornography (the Army is ok with that...).

You are kidding me? "E" told me that porn was NOT allowed to be sent into Iraq! I would THINK that Afghanistan had the same rules. Odd.

Canadian army. They have a "don't ask, don't tell" policy espically with those sent to remote spots outside Kandahar where they remain 6-7 together for 2-3 months with little contact.

Got ya. Sorry, I forgot you were a Canuck. :)

Seriously, are US troops allowed to receive pornographic magazines? I've always heard that soldiers love to receive porn. To be quite serious, we need to take care of our soldiers sexual needs when they are separated from their partners for long periods of time. It's cruel to leave the troops sexually frustrated.

I have plenty of porn mags that I would gladly donate if I knew it was permitted. Can someone tell me if I sent a care package with porn, would the porn be distributed or does the military have a no porn rule?

lmao @ the porn care package...

Im watching Stop Loss right now and trust me i came real close to being stop lossed when i was about to renig on reenlisting because of the Navy not having my reenlistment bonus. I was in Iraq in 1996 and it was the day i was supposed to either stay or get out. even though it wasnt a time of war per say but they told me they can hold me until whenever they wanted. i was pissed but luckily they got the message and i got my $30,000.

Lots of porn and naked pics of gf's are posted up in those barracks. Including the infamous 'wall of shame'. :)

Porn is good. Homosexuality is a big swept under the rug problem in the military. Straight porn is always welcomed in theater. Just keep it away from females and officers. NCO's will read it with you.

lemme see if I get this right.........the U.S military can't pay for it's shit........does that sum it about right? We actually have soldiers in Iraq that don't have the gear they need.........so there's an orgainization that has to ask americans for even more money than we're already giving uncle sam? I'm sorry, my pea little brain is having a hard time getting around this. I see, pretty much on a weekly basis........numbers being thrown out on the expense of the war. Mind boggling numbers.......unimaginable numbers............what exactly is that money being used for again??

How about you start a thread to discuss it and leave this thread for what it is?
