Ted Koppel on ABC say during halftime of the FSU-Miami game that the Superdome is going to be torn down.

Anyone else hear this? I don't have a link.

might as well get ya city a new dome while you suck up all that federal money

well they need to do it tomorrow and use the material to help fill in the levee's along with all the other debris in the town.

That may take years to fund/approve/build....makes you wonder if the team will end up moving to another city permanently.

Lets keep this thread on topic, we dont need any of the democrat cronies coming in here and taking cheap shots at HumorMe.

lol @ 75th. I don't think it will get that far.

Can anyone imagine the condition that place is in after everyone left? No sewer, no water, no power.......it had to be awful to be stuck there.

I bet the people don't want to be reminded of it by seeing that place.

It was horrible before all of that. That stadium had to be one of the worst designed stadiums in the country.
Why so many superbowls played there then?

Wasn't there already some talk that the Superdome was going to have to be replaced, before the hurricane?

well considering a child was raped and murdered there along with a bunch of other deaths who the hell would wanna go see a ballgame there?

What, you thing that just because some po folks are gonna be housed there for a while, that the tub's gonna get trashed the way the Superdome was?

I wonder if the "guests" are gonna complain because there's no room service and the stewards don't have any planned activities for them? "When are we going to Jamaica?"

This is just what the owners want. They have been talking about moviing out of state for a while now. Don't be surprised that San Antonio will be their new home.

Why, is Pistol Pete coming back?
In 1974 the Jazz franchise began in New Orleans. The franchise proved unsuccessful, both on the court and financially, even after the addition of "Pistol" Pete Maravich as the star player. Though Maravich was viewed as one of the NBA's most entertaining and talented players, the Jazz were continually a losing team. After five losing seasons in New Orleans, they moved to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1979. Although the team nickname was not fitting for Salt Lake City, which was known more as a center for Mormon culture than as a mecca for jazz music, the franchise decided to keep it. In Utah, the team continued to languish toward the bottom of the standings until the 1983-1984 season, when it won the Midwest Division title and advanced to the second round of the playoffs.

Pistol was the man. I believe he averaged 44 points a game at LSU.

where are the saints going to play this yeaR?

Saints owner formally backs Baton Rouge option
September 6, 2005

SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- Saints owner Tom Benson, who drew criticism for his silence concerning where the team should play home games in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, prefers to call Baton Rouge home.

In a statement issued Tuesday, Benson echoed players and coaches who've said they prefer to play in Tiger Stadium on the LSU campus. Benson said he told the NFL he would like the Saints to play there ``to the extent circumstances allow.''

NFL spokesman Joe Browne said the league has been in contact with LSU and Baton Rouge officials and hopes the Saints eventually will be able to play home games there.

There are logistical issues potentially blocking the Saints from playing some early-season home dates at 92,000-seat Tiger Stadium about 80 miles northwest of their longtime home, the storm-damaged Louisiana Superdome. The LSU campus currently is home to relief efforts that even forced the Tigers to postpone their first home game and move their second one this Saturday to Arizona State.

Benson also assured season ticket holders they will be refunded if they are unable to attend games, wherever they may be played. He said the team was still finishing the details of its refund policy.

``The entire New Orleans Saints organization would like to extend its prayers and best wishes to all of our fans throughout Louisiana and the Gulf South region,'' Benson said.

Benson added he wants the club to be ``a source of pride and joy in these difficult days.''

``As we move forward together, the Saints look forward to serving as a leader in the rebuilding and revitalization of our great community,'' Benson said, noting that the club is setting up a relief fund for the storm-ravaged region.

For home games that can't be played at Tiger Stadium, the Saints say their other options include playing at the stadium of their scheduled opponent or in San Antonio, where the club is practicing and has set up temporary headquarters.

The Saints already agreed to play their first scheduled home date in New York against the Giants on Sept. 19. The next home game in question is Oct. 2 against Buffalo.

Any thread about the Pooperdome is a poop thread. It's like a giant toilet that hasn't been flushed.

That shit is going to have to be torched. Thankfully, it probably already has gasoline and diesel fuel mixed in it.

Did Koppel say it like "The..Super...dome..is...going to...be...torn..down
