I'm needing to get a simple way to do accounting, A/R mainly. I've been doing it all on paper, for my bonding business all these years. I know quickbooks is available, does anyone know of anything that is more simple, meaning less crap on it.

All I need it to do is:
accounts w/ info, i.e. address and phone numbers
A/R, monthly mailout w balances, easy to update addy changes, etc.

I don't need all the other crap that the programs seem to have. I won't use it if it's not easy, I just need to get with the plan so I can see my business numbers better. My other business is done through an accounting firm, they handle all that, I just don't want to use them for my bonding business if I can find something that is easy to use and will do the things that I listed.
 
excel? it is easy and has any/every formula you can think of. plus you can make it to your liking and change it around whenever
 
You can probably have someone make you a custom front end on an access database. shouldnt be too expensive.

I didn't realize that Excel did anything other than spreadsheets and such... humm

I usually just have a bunch of post-its all over the place. Sometimes reciepts with notes on them work well.

that's EXACTLY what I do, pieces of scrap paper all over that damn place, it screams "I HAVE ADD!!!"

I've looked at Quickbooks, even got the Mr. Professor vid to learn how to use it. It doesn't look that hard, but the damn thing does all kinds of shit that I don't need. The vid starts at the beginning and didn't get to something that I thought was interesting till about 30 minutes later. You know how long someone who has ADD can pay attention to that, maybe 3 minutes.

I just want something that has, new account, accounts, A/R total, when someone pays me I can credit it, and a monthly mailing. Preferably with one click per opperation...
