Suggestions for a life change

chazk

New member
I am turning 31 I am ready for a life change I want to have a job/career I enjoy :) , something I can wake up to do everyday and be glad to be doing it.
In the past I was a " broker " I would by and sell everything and anything to make money from cars, boats, houses, land, ebay auction house, import textiles to wholesale junk from china to local vendors. I guess pretty much anything that had a good/decent profit margin. Money has been great at times and money has sucked at times. Ether way I am bored and want to do something else.

Some stuff I like to do below ,so my future might include some of my favorite things to do

I like to ..
Eat
sleep
liftweights
look at hot girls

So what could you guys suggest ?

Hard pressed man but you let me know if u find anything that meets the criteria better.

Abercrombie model:

Eat - lots of veggies and tofu
sleep - coma between 'all night flights'
liftweights - shopping bags?
look at hot girls - makeup pointers

What about lifeguard? That an option for ya?

"broker"??? Shit nigga, you's a hustler!!!!!!!!!!@!#

Got a degree? I like the same things you like apparently...but I found it hard to make money doing those things. :( Anything else you like to do or think you'd be good at and might like?

i turned 31 in october and quit my job in january, then moved to california. i currently enjoy doing things like:

.

well, nothing. shit. never mind.

Personal trainer. If you're good you can work 30 hours a week and make good bank, surrounded by women in tight clothes constantly and can lift weights whenever you want.

Supplement that with one night of bartending on a Friday/Saturday and you can also be guaranteed to get laid every weekend.

Become a professor.

I work about 8 months a year. Make over 6 figures just teaching. I have my summers totally off. I get to attend conferences and travel to nice places. I have the time to work out twice a day (if I want to).

Life is good.

How did you end up being a professor?
Were you always on the prof track or did it just kind of happen?

I hated practicing law and I really enjoy finance. I applied to some PhD programs and got lucky and got accepted. After that the rest is history.

Are you done with school yet? If you like practicing law I strongly recommend doing legal research and trying to get some articles published while you are out in the real world. If you ever decide to teach law and you have published articles under your belt it will open up doors of opportunity and lead to teaching position without an LLM or SJD.

Law professors make very good money (and Business professors). Teaching (if done right!) does take a ton of time but it is very rewarding. During the semester I am very busy (especially this time of the year - finals and stressed students lol) I like working with others and especially in the field that I am in I get to do consulting too. I mostly focus on small struggling businesses and it is so rewarding helping people out (and sometimes brings in extra money if I charge for it).

I have one more year left. I'm about to start working on my student note.
I have no idea how I'm going to have the time to get published once I start working, but I'm going to try.
I think being a clinic professor would be a pretty awesome job.

Sometimes I fantasize about getting a PhD in literature and being an undergrad prof. I would torture the poor undergrads with the Socratic Method. It would be deeply satisfying.

lol

I always stick a question or two on the exams where the wording is slightly off and if they are not paying attention they get it wrong.

As for publishing, pick a topic you really enjoy, and attack it little by little. When I was in law school I got two articles published (by luck - I picked a timely topic) and kept on the same topic and just continually moved out from that. Over time your knowledge grows and grows and you become an expert in that one area.

The hidden secret of a PhD (and successful legal publishers) is that they stick to a narrowly defined topic and master it. Most people think because I am a professor I know everything about finance and in fact I know very little - but I am a master of a few specific areas and I make sure I exploit that strength (all professors do the same). The same goes with the law. I am an expert on the CISG but know just generalized stuff from other business law areas.

Yeah, but you're independently wealthy, so it's not like you need a job.
