Anybody else check their glucose? I check mine at work ... when I'm sitting around being bored. It's usually 55-70's. People at work say it is 2low.That's probably b/c we are medics and they teach us in school that good glucose is 80-120's. I think they teach us that for dealing with our diabetics and such. I eat a TON but don't eat like most of the people I work with. I probably eat less carbs .... but I eat a lot and I feel fine. I figured u guys might have some input since u are so good with this kinda stuff. I think my glucose levels are healthy.Am I wrong?

I work as a firefighter/paramedic, so I've had the occasional boredom set in, and checked mine at work; usually sits smack dab in the norm range at around 5.2-5.4mmol/L.(to covert to mg/dL multiply by 18)

I've checked mine after fasting for a few hours, and had fasting glucose tests done by my doc, and there's no difference.

Being on the lower end is actually a better thing in the end; just just means your insulin is that much more effective.

Well, at least it sounds good, lol.

If I sat around at the 10mmol/L range all the time, I'd be worried about becoming NIDDM eventually.

OMG -- a response. Finally. Thank u. I'm a firefighter/paramedic, 2!!!!!!!It sounds like your glucose is a little higher than mine, but like I said -- I feel fine. I'll just watch it. I was kinda curious about what the fitness yodas would think. i figured they would know a lot more about if it would have any negative effects on my fitness level, muscle, ect. I know how to tell if glucose is causing a serious problem ... I was wanting to know about the whole fitness aspect of it all. I don't want my muscles to be STARVED or anything. THANKS 4 the response.

I had mine checked the other day as part of a complete blood thest... it was right in the middle of the normal values... same with protein and all the chemical analysis, that day I didn't have any animal protein and had a lot of carbs too

Thanx. Maybe I should just go 2 the doctor ... yuk. Maybe have some blood work done to see what's up. I usually feel fine. I'm really active. But when people at work see my glucose reading they always say it is way 2 low.

You got another FF/EMT on the board as well.....my glucose is right in the middle as well.
Great. That's 3 of us, so far. I bet there's more.
I can't remember EVER finding my glucose to be higher than 70's. The highest I remember was 78 ... and that happened maybe one time. I have been watching it closer, lately. It was in the 50's most of the time. Sometimes 60's. Maybe I'm just strange. Thanx for the response! Stay safe.

Whoa. I checked my sugar at work 2 days ago and it was 42!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LMAO that's like 2.3 mmol/L. I've seen people with a GCS of 3 at that glucose level. I think you're a human anomaly, J ;)

I know!!!! I had a call just yesterday with this unresponsive chick who have a glucose of 46. My partner made a comment on how hers was probably higher than mine. It's crazy. I go to the doctor in 2 days. It never really bothers me right now but I am curious about it. Wonder if it means I get to be a diabetic when I grow up.

My glucose levels are checked with my blood testing every three months. They were high within range at one time. If you are within range per a certified blood test, you are fine.

However, you can improve. Now I watch "fast" sugar intake - I think it is a killer! I try to get all my carbos from veggies and avoid products with high sugar content. This includes processed flour and even fruits. I read labels.

The results were dramatic for me, especially with improvements in all aspects of cholesterol control and blood pressure.. Body composition changed to the better with fat reduction. I did lose a lot of body weight, going from a blubbery 230 to a thin 175 over about 9 months. I urinated continually the first weeks.

Thanx for the info. I go to the doc 2day for my yearly physical for work. One day last week my glucose went from 41 ... to 360 .... and down to 56 in a 2 hour period. That just ain't right. I usually eat really clean. Actually, I usually only eat really good carbs, but sometimes I slip. I'll see what the doc says and let everyone know. Thanx! :)
