Stupidity rules again (ontario schools)

Im not sure if this has been brought into effect anywhere else in canada,I dont think it has been because we are the only province getting rid of grade 13 but the new cirriculum is favoring stupid people

a new policy that has been put into effect this semester has it so students only lose 10% of the mark if they hand work in late.
This means that up until the final exam these lazy people or people with bad time management skills get s break for whatever reason.

No im pissed because my Advanced english class average is 48% ,Im sitting at a 87 the highest mark in the class by 20% and now these fuckers get a break for sitting there being total fucks.

what the hell is our school system going to,this is basically teaching people to be lazy,it doesnt promote anything positive and Im very upset by it.

I just needed to vent about this shit but would like opinions

Bro I don't know what to say but that is plain rediculous, but don't worry those fucks who though they could wait till the last second when they get to a school like Dal where i go, each day an assignment is late you lose 25%, in most of my classes. How about that.

BTW the garde 13 thing was a waste anyway I think, most people are ready for university by 18, and if not tkae a year off an work, travel etc. The only good thing about going that extra year to school imo was for poeple involved in sports, it gave them a better chance to get some type of sports related schoolership.

DAL sucks!!!!

UNB all the way!!!!!

And yes, OAC is a complete and utter waste of time.

Ok...I'll be the first from the States to ask...

GRADE 13??!

grade 13 is for university prep and you need 6 gr 13 courses to goto university,or you did until this year

I personally hated the idea of having a extra grade to hold me back from uni, so I fast tracked my final 2 years and entered at the regular american year 12. This is the final year for OAC anyway so its no longer a problem.

for anybody else but now im competing against double the people for a spot in college

and they are keeping that stupid hand in late policy

Lotsa of considerations were made for that, all major uni have expanded in some way or another, the minor ones less so. Many students have either done as I did and fast tracked or will take a year off.

Don't worry aboot it too much, if your grades are there than you will still get in, if you still feel uncomfortable then upgrade your appliation with extra curric, or comm service - most people are too lazy to do such anyway. You can even write a nationally standardized test ex. SAT (assuming you score high) your place will be guarenteed.

As for the policy, its shouldn't be perminent, and I beleive it would only effects the double cohort since grades 12 and oac (worth the same) need this now that they are mushing 2 years into one, and grade 12's cann't have the consideration (10% max) hence the OAC's get it also. Thats the only reason i can think of.

If you can't change it than take advantage of it.

My average is great so that isnt a problem but residence will be it the places im applying to arent upgrading yet ,but it shouldnt be that big of a problem

I may be a minority here, but don't think that policy is too unreasonable. When I was in highschool, most teachers had a 10% off a day policy. So hand in a paper two days late and your 75% turns into a 55%. Thats fucking bullshit imo.

Marks should be reflective of the quality of the work, not of its punctuality.

I also think that OACs need to be gotten rid of. Considering how highschool is such a waste of time, why draw it out for five years?

Ten percent off a day is damn lenient....Some of my teachers will not accept late work, i.e. you get a 0, all the others take off at least 20-35 points for one day late and give you a 0 for 2 days late.

Mexican my reasoning for this is it doesnt teach you a real life skill(time management) and in college or uni you dont have it in on time 95% of the time its a 0

Go to Windsor. Only 3 things happen there.

1. Partying
2. Partying
3. Partying

I've seen it first hand, nobody does any work and the combined Windsor/Detroit party scene is fantastic. I believe it was Macleans that said the benefits of the school are the "three floor student centre for partying". The residences are pretty decent too and the school is flooded with attractive girls because all those cute dumb blondes got in there since no other school would take them.

My course is offered through college
the course I plan to apply for are

Police foundations at Mohawk in brantford and Cambrian in sudbury(cambrian is offering me a campus job as security if I go there,at 7 bucks a hour)

then Im applying for Child and Youth Worker at Mohawk Fennel and Cambrian

and Correctional Worker at Cambrian(again with this course im offered the security job)

If i get into police foundations I may do the connecting program with a affiliate university and go straight from college to uni and take criminology

I took police foundations at Algonquin College a LONG time ago...if you want info I'd be glad to help.

Don't expect to be a cop with only that diploma though...won't happen unfortunately. That's how I ended up in the fucking CF.

You mp Guards?

Ive looked into alot of my programs and the one at cambrian has a 95% success rate in teh first six months with just that

and I also have ties at Ontario Police College as my uncles best friend runs it

I never went to college but the people I do know who go and have went tell me that whatever classes they took were basically either refresher courses on hi school classes, getting slighlty more advanced later on. Just agreeing with whoever said hi school is a waste of time, it sure seems so.

By the way my opnion on why they're being ore lenient is because they are either realising they're fighting a lsoing battle against laziness, or they just need to get kids into college for some weird conspiracy.

But the bottom definately is that whichever way you look at it, the world powers are run on economy, and that's all the governents of the world countries want fromt heir people is to go and work work work and get out there and try and push their country further up the economic ladder so they can be number one, and oh yes, they want you to pay your taxes too.

Life sucks.

I should have graduated in gr.12

I had 6 OAC's(I fast tracked)

But hell no.....retard me stayed on for another year.

Racked up 13 OAC's.

OAC's IMO are a good thing.

Gr.12 Math is just too damn idiotic. You need a harder course load to separate the people that want to go to Univ. and those who don't.

OAC's did that pretty well.
