oh wait where talking about stances ......well I dont like sumo its too wide .. but its good for squats, I find if I go wide on deads its harder.

Honestly... I don't know.

I've pulled approximately 35 lbs more conventional than sumo... but i stopped training sumo for months before pulling more conventional... so who knows?

I feel more comfortable with conventional, if that means anything.

conventional, and since its a longer range of motion, I grow more too

I think its pretty dependant on the lifters body. I saw alot of guys using the modified stance at the IPA worlds

Seems to work for you just fine.

Thanks bro, I'm pretty anal about making sure I get the fullest range possible on any exercise, and since the ROM on deads isnt that big to begin with, I'd rather keep it conventional. And too be honest, I dont really want to pull much mroe weight anyway

I've really only tried sumo once, and it felt really awkward. I like conventional, because I think I get more of my lower back into it, which is a good thing.

I had a powerlifting coach tell me it really depended on your body type/height. I'm pretty short so Sumo is really hard for me because it pulls me off balance. I always do conventional.

i'm guessing sumo....although I haven't tested my theory yet.

i think i have long legs/femurs or something

i haven't done much pulling sumo, but eventually I am going to find out.

Personally, I think that the conventional stance is better for building strength and size. However, the sumo stance will get you lower to the ground and will enable you to get point A to point B in the shortest distance.

At first, the sumo stance will rip the hips apart if you are used to it. I think a close mixed grip works best. . this will help keep the back straight when pulling upward.

my gf is strongest with sumo.

i dont like it, it feels awkward to me. i pull conventional.
Even for squats, a wider stance with my toes pointed out at an angle feels much more comfortable. Do you think I can thank my womanhood to that? "Our" hips are wider, etcetera.

I definitely prefer and can pull more sumo style...which is exactly why I should be doing conventional! I think I've overcome my grip issue (haven't taken the straps out of my gym bag for a while now) with the help of my handy little rosin bag. Now to break the preferred mixed grip of choice...LH down, RH up...

conventional for me havent really given sumo a fair try though Im strongest doing the Hack Lift though with the bar behind me Just got 565 on the hack lift and my conventional is only 465
