Stronger on DB overheads than DB flat bench presses??

HOwcome i can press more over my head with DBs than i can on the flat bench? DOes this make any sense? And, is it only because maybe i have worked my shoulders more and longer than my chest?
Last night i had my first tough bench workout - i think i did 7 sets every single one to failure. (dammit) Then it was time to hit the DB bench presses. I couldnt even hang on to the 25s let alone press them ( i know my muscles were fatigued),. BUT I sat up and said watch this...pressed em over my head for 10 strict reps. Whats up wit dat? My boyfriend just laughed.

So for DB bench presses he had nothing lighter than 25s in his garage (no man would LOL) so he handed me these DB handles the ones you load weight plates onto. All i could do was 4 sets of 12-15 with the handle alone no weights i think it was like 5 or more pounds im not really sure.

I think i can conclude that i have weak and untrained chest muscles. Would you agree?
 
oh damn i just knew someone would ask that!

i did about 5 or 6 working sets of anywhere from 8-12 reps to failure each set. heaviest set was 85 lbs maybe 8 reps
 
thats way too much if going to absolute failure do one or two worksets max......on the othre hand if going for more sets then keep one or two reps inside you....i hope i am making sense....
also u can use 10 or 15 lb plates for flyes......a bit akward but doable
