Had a buddy call me yesterday and ask me to come do a cross fit session with him. Now I know nothing of this fairy tale bullshit, but I figure I'll go and at least drink some beer while I destroy this pudd sucker at his own game. And I think he done some kinda of variation of the real cross fit stuff but this is what he had set up to do. 21 power cleans x 135 21 dips, 15 power cleans x135 15 dips and then 9 power cleans and 9 dips done in a continuous cycle no rest in between and you get timed. Well long story short I done it in 2 mins 28 seconds. I don't know if thats good or not but it was way better than homeboy's time. I must admitt I was a lil winded and my hamstrings are sore as fuck. Do any of you use this type of shit in your training? And how does it work for you?

and i've dabbled in a bit of crossfit, a true crossfit workout will destroy a bro, and while i give props to SB for joosey strength, no way a bloated easily winded jooser could even compete with an amatuer crossfitter in the same weight class.
 
I've got nothing against cross fit, but it's annoying the fuck out of me now that it's so trendy. I have to do my leg routine on a Sunday afternoon when nobody is in the gym since every single weeknight the squat racks are loaded with people doing pseudo-crossfit exercises for hours on end.

The workout u did is called Elizabeth and the dips are suppose to be done in rings and not a bar but that is a good time! I bodybuild but I follow crossfit closely (my lady is certified and does crossfit training). It is very good to implement these workouts every now and again. I know it is very trendy now and every one is doing it but if u put that aside, crossfit training gets u into insane shape. U would be suprised how strong u can become as well. Rich frowning is the #1 crosscut male in the world and at 5'10, 196lbs, and no more than 10%bf he can bench in the upper 300s, deadlift in the 500s, and squat in the mid 400s. The guy also has a 355lb clean and jerk and over a 300lb snatch. He is a freak in terms of having both great strength and insanely endurance. Not to mention he never trains to max out in the conventional lifts. Def dont hate on it because its trendy. It works and absolutely produces top level athletes.

I admitt that shit is tough as hell, the only reason I even finsihed it was because 135 to me is like two 10 lbs dumbells. I was winded as fuck, but hero said my time was pretty damn respectable for a first timer. I think I am going to incorporate some of this cross fit shit into my week. My abs werea lil sore too, first time they've been worked in 8 months.

I love you too bro, you just read what you wanna read and jump to conclusions. I'm sure doing it like the real cross fit ngrs do would have added a lot of time to what I was clocked at. Those dudes also have to have their elbows out on the cleans and all that shit to count as a rep. I'm sure my cleans were legal but who knows, some of my reps may not have counted. Fact is I enjoyed it and plan to add it to my week. Maybe I'll get better at it and set up some rings, then we can see.
 
That's a ridiculous time for elizabeth even with reg dips SB....ur what, 270-280? If that time is true you need to video tape it and send it to crossfit.com even if it's not with the ring dips. They love shit like that, seeing a big ngr like you dong crossfit would give them a huge boner.

And welcome to crossfit. It sucks ass, it will make you feel worse than you've ever felt in your life.....but it rules. lol

I'm workin on juggernaut method for now while i work on pullups and ring dips...then it'll back to the CF.

I don't care if you did ring dips, Skoal dips, potato chip dips, or skinny dips.. You did not complete 90 total reps of jack squat in 148 seconds. If you post a YouTube of you doing just the 42 cleans in that time I will post one proclaiming you king of all Negroes.

took me a while do figure them out but now i can bang them out clean...not a ring muscle up though, gotta be hard
 
aren't ring muscleups easier cause your hands can follow a more natural path?

i've been told they are super hard on rings, my coworker crossfit chick claims so.
never stepped to rings before so i have no idea personally

i do ring dips and ring pullups...i actually like ring pullups ALOT better. But it's gonna be a long long while before i can combine the two. My one shoulder still isn't 100% from tweaking it on rings going on now about a year.

muscleups? not at all, elbows and shoulders though for sure.
if you can do a dip and a pullup then you can do a muscleup all it takes is technique.

Dude I have no idea of what that is. Explain, all I know is dude was doing crossfit in his home gym and I went and tried it, it was very tough on a fat ngrs heart rate but the weight they use is faiirly light so I made good time.
 
Cross fitters are pretty crazy they had it on espn the other night the chicks have 8 packs and the dudes look like figure competitors
 
Crossfit is legit. I don't do any structured crossfit work but all my workouts now revolve around kbs and body weight stuff with very little rest. My cardio is stupid strong.
 
I can get founders, new belgium, and 21st amendment just across the state line (35 miles) which is awesome since they're not distributed in Fla. If I could only get deschutes and surly in the southeast I'd be a happy drunk.

Cigar City brews some amazing beers. We should be seeing their canned line soon. Southern tier choklat is another awesome stout. It's like drinking an 11% abv tootsie roll.

there's no question it will to some extent...you can't have a mass monster bb'er physique doing CF. But look at guys like Dave Lipson who's a solid 215 and front squats over 500lbs. These CF guys are legit athletes with ripped muscular comic book physiques. They're not "monsters", they don't have Ronnie Coleman physiques. But I'll offer this, would rather be just under 200lbs ripped, stupidly athletic with rediculous stamina.....or be a 300lb mass monster that can't walk upstairs without an elevated heart rate and have to down thousands and thousands of calories a day? And then we talk about all the injections and pills. These sub 200lb guys are putting up weight getting close to what Ronnie does on some of these lifts...they generate their power from their whole body.

Yes, but its been on purpose. I started riding mountain bikes a over a year ago. Now I train 100% for xc mtb and road bike racing. Being a muscle bound roid monster is a hindrance. I sit at about 175 down from 230ish at my heaviest. The workouts I do off the bike are for core strength and mobility. I have no use for additional muscle mass. Out of the twelve or so hours a week I train, less than 1.5 hours is spent in the weight room.

From time to time i do miss throwing around heavy weights and being jacked, but its not an option for me now. If I did for some reason stop racing bikes I'd more than likely join a crossfit gym and go all out CF.
