stretch marks

New member
shit, freaked myself out last night.. had my shirt off and went into the bathroom -- stretched my arms up over my head and saw these red 'slash' marks at my pec/delt area and didn't know wtf it was.. come to realize its probably fresh stretch marks :(

they are bright red when i pull at 'em.. is that what they look like until they 'heal' and turn white or a lighter color than the surrounding skin?

Thanks Ulter.. i have other stretch marks (on my ass, for some reason), I just hadn't ever seen fresh ones.. didnt know they'd be all red like that at first.

As ulter said I had these mad stretch marks on my pec-delt area and my forearm-bicept area; with time they became less noticable

sweet... small price to pay I guess?

I always thought that larger (or overweight) people that later trimmed down alot got stretch marks and/or extra skin... but I guess it makes sense that you get them when you grow quickly

they might just seems more obvious if you lose weight.. I think of it this way, think about a wrinkled shirt.. if you pull it tigther, you wont see the wrinkles, even though they are still there.. so as long as i keep growing, the stretch marks wont be obvious.

They can be painful sometimes.... I was in a wrestling match and ended up ripping the stretch mark that goes down the inner part of my bicep. If it stretches fast due to growth the skin gets thinner and thinner.

:(

as i said above, i have had them for years. the only ones that have turned skin tone are the small ones on my bicep. the ones between my arm pit and chest are still red. after many yrs

I have them on my biceps and my tryceps and my delt arm tie in area and a few on my lats. All from my 1st cycle ( I responded VERY WELL) anyway, Buy some Vitamin E oil and rub it om the strech marks it will lighten them dramatically, unfortunatly without cosmetic surgery there is NO way to get rid of them and personally I find them ugly, Also when you grow they do not dippepear rathe, what your dealing with is skin that has streached thin in spots so even when your arms are nice and tight you can and will still see them and sometimes rather well. Mine almost have a semi-reflective quality to them and are a light pink in color, when I tan it is a little better but unfortunatly they will not tan at the same rate as regular skin as they sre closer to Scar tissue than actually Dermal Tissue (Skin) I spoke with my dermatoligist about mine as I really don't like that I have them, although they are kinda like battle scars in a way, So if to give them up would mean that I would be a skinny fuck, I would never go back and change a thing. But, If you use Vit. E oil this will help dramatically also I use lotion as well now. I also use lotion on most of my body now when I'm "ON" because it does help with the overall Elasticity of the skin and helps to prevent further streaching of the Dermal Tissue. I hope this Info helps Bro's, I would contact your Dermatoligist for more info, if your overly concerned about them however. Peace, Drols
P.S. Ulter is right You can find good Products in the Womens Isle for pregnancy...LOL...but they do work.

DOEdoes retin-a work well on fresh stretch marks? or will it cause irritation, as it is a fresh tear in the dermis.

I wouldn't think it to be an actual tear, because the layers are actually thinned rather than torn, so there's not really a penetrated laceration that is ripped thru all the dermal layers. However not sure if this thinning of the skin would make it less apt to be able to fight off irritation???? I think you might want to just make a call to a dermatoligist. You would be surprised how many questions that either nurses or the Doc's themselves will answer over the phone without actually having an appointment and wasting alot of cash. I make phone calls all the time, I'm cheap!!! Good Luck, Drols

Here we go,

Stretch marks are a form of scarring generally associated with pregnancy, obesity, bodybuilding, puberty, and intense physical activity. They result from overstretching of the skin, which disrupts the normal production of collagen, causing a scar. Medical terminology for these kinds of markings include striae, striae atrophicae, vergetures, striae cutis distensae, striae gravidarum (in cases where it is caused by pregnancy), lineae atrophicae, striae distensae, linea albicante.

They first appear as reddish or purple lines, but tend to gradually fade to a lighter color. The affected areas appear empty and soft to the touch.

Human skin has three different layers: the epidermis (outer layer), the dermis (middle layer), and the subcutaneous stratum (innermost layer). Stretch marks occur in the dermis, the resilient middle layer that helps the skin retain its shape. Once the dermis has been stretched continuously over time, certain parts of it "overstretch", losing all elasticity and causing the connective fibres within to break. The result is what we know as stretch marks.

Once the body returns to the original unstretched size (after childbirth or weight loss, for example) stretch marks often become much less noticeable.

Stretch marks can appear anywhere on the body. They are most likely to appear in places where fat is stored, or that have a tendency to stretch. Most common places are the abdomen (especially near the belly-button), breasts, upper arms, underarms, thighs (both inner and outer) and buttocks. They pose no health risk in and of themselves, and do not compromise the body's ability to function normally and repair itself.
