stress fractures

I have been diagnosed with stress fractures on each leg about half way between the knee and the ankle. As a result, I have to avoid any impact exercises for at least 6 weeks.

Has anyone else ever gotten a stress fracture on their lower leg? How long did it take to heal? Any suggestions on what type of cardio to do in the meantime? I don't have access to a pool so swimming is out...

Thanks.

I get one in my foot on accasion...the very very outsid bone that connects to my little toes on my right foot... It is due to when my ankle was fused...it was fused just a little bit at an inside angle...so I walk on the outside of my foot. Anyway, Mine fells better within 3 weeks...but not sure excactly how long the actual heal time is.
If you want to do cardio with no impact...then ride a bike or get on the eliptical.

My problem is that just adding weight to my foot keeps aggrivating mine...but I gotta walk don't i?
Good luck bro.

I've had them in my shin, as well as in my pelvis. Most likely you have shin splints. There are stretches you can do and icing it down works as well. Google shin splint therapy and start from there. Take some anti-inflammatories too!

The healing process varies from person to person.....I still have problems to this very day but I still "press on" :Chef: :tuc:

I get them in my feet, on the outside edge, called a Jones fracture. They had to put a screw in my right foot to support where it always breaks. I have not had any trouble recently, but for the first few years I would get hairline fractures there every now and again.
