Straight deads or high pulls for better overall mass

Deads!

Deads are a strength exercise and high pulls are a power exercise.

If I could do only one it would have to be deads.
 
DL will recruit more fibers and use more muscles but high pulls will enable you to use more weight

I want to run another 5x5 cycle once this one is completed and i love deads and i love high pulls bc i used to olympic lift, and was wondering if i should swap deads for high pulls or just stick with deads. I guess im getting a little ahead of myself, but im just constantly thinking about training, lol.
 
Choose the one you like most or the one you haven't done in the longest. I'm also a fan of all types of pulling so I can empathize with your situation. That said, I find myself more bummed at having to ignore dynamic pulling for 8-9 weeks than having to ignore deads. Just personal preference.
