Stopping the low carb crap

I dunno if any of you remember but i did this diet about a year and a half ago with goos results, lost 40 pounds, give or take a few, in roughly 3 months. so i tried it again and it sucked. i have a physical job that also requires a degree of problem solving and you gotta be able to improvise if something doesnt work right. but while on this diet, me and my co-workers noticed that i couldnt concentrate, think straight, and constantly made stupid mistakes. then i was talking to a friend and he said that carbs are needed for proper brain function. man i wish i knew that before i started it. but now im off it and i feel a lot better physically and mentally. has anyone else ever had this happen to them while trying low carb? time to try a new diet.

Bro, did you check to see how much you lost in muscle!!??

I read somewhere that the body uses carbs as a primary energy source, with no carbs, the body starts to break down your active tissue as well as your fat, using a diet such as atkins will destroy your body...

Its been a while since I was on a cut, so I'm a bit rusty on all this, feel free to tell me I'm mistaken... but this is the conclusion I was influenced to draw after research into the atkins and similar diets.

i took some measurements yesterday and it doesnt look like i lost any muscle. i wasnt on it too long so i dont think it did in irreversable damage. plus i havent lost any strength so im not worried. just glad im done with it.

I found that, while I don't necessarily lose much in "brain power", I am EASILY agitated and pretty miserable most of the time. Not fun.

Bain powder?

Me no lost powder in bain!

Fine is me!

Low Carb best now!

LOL its funny because he's stupid from the low carbs affecting his brain and so he talks like that...oh wait that was the joke :p

i believe you are better off having carbs at specific times than cuttin them completly, unless you are in the fimal stages of contest prep

I just avoid high glycemic carbs all the time and keep my non-HGI carbs seperated by 30 minutes or so from everything else.

Exactly.

It's the same thing as the low fat diets that preceded the low carb ones. Finally people realized that all fat is not bad, and to avoid saturated fats only. Now people are realizing that all carbs are not all bad, but like fats, some are better than others.

I eat a good amount of carbs daily. But most of them come from plain oatmeal, non enriched whole grain breads, and veggies.

There has been one constant throughout all the dieting fads though, that is that any refined sugars and enriched breads are simply not healthy. That's not to say you can never ever eat that stuff, but it should be very rare.

Not not not!

You wrong all you!

Better low carb is happy now!

Me smarted so much!

Me pet rabbit now!

Actually, you should give the R-ala a try. I know Mike Miller is using it and just touted it in Monster Muscle. I think it's great for powerlifters who need the energy from the cabs, but don't want to put on fat. The law of thermodynamics still apply's.....Too many cals will make you fatter, but if taking maint cals or a little more, the R-ala will help to keep you lean. Miller dropped from over 400 to 380 with it.
