O.k. I think Steve Irwin was the shit. But is there anybody that truthfully did not foresee his death coming from a tragic accident with an animal. I mean in tons of his shows he has barely escaped numerous times being bit by a poisonous snake that will kill you in like minutes. How many crocks nearly got a piece of him. How many times have you seen a critter bite him etc. It only takes one mistake as we all know. Just wondering if it came as a shock that this is how he died. Sucks though I will miss his adventures. Croiky mate hats off to the crocodile hunter RIP!!

honestly, he got away with so many close calls, so much and so often, it was somewhat of a surprise. though agree it was not surprising that his passion was the source of his demise. Would say that he was generally very lucky, in this case he was quite unlucky.

This was definitely an unexpected method of his passing.
Steve Irwin wasn't playing with danger as often as it appeared. He knew animals, and what looked like provocation and risk by him was his theatrical expertise. The giants left in his field acknowledge that as what made his career so desired.
The stingray that killed him is considered a docile fish that rarely attacks unless cornered. Stingrays bury themselves in the sand and sometimes may strike when the water above them is agitated. Steve Irwin moved above the stingray while filming for his daughter's show.
There have been only 17 deaths worldwide from stingrays in the past decade! Even more so, the puncture of the barb pierced his heart not his stomach or shoulder or leg.
I greatly admired this man for the personal passion he showed whenever I saw him interviewed or filming animals or proudly showing off his wife and children. If there is anything he taught me well, it is to live life with real meaning before there is no time left to make that choice.

Be well,
Mike

I wasnt suprised in the least that he died from an animal...was a little suprised that it was a stingray and not something poisonus though. He was a pioneer in what he did...

that was truly a freak accident. they had a medic there in case he was bitten by something venomous. but there aren't too many animals that size that can strike you dead so quickly.

i don't think its a shock to anyone that a man who was filming a show titled "The Ocean's Deadliest..." got killed.

Yeah thats my point.

My god did you hear the speech by his little eight year old girl hiits your heart I bet she will grow up to have the same passion as her dad and will be in the same line of business although she will be making money like her father their is no question he absolutely loved what he did and therefore was not a job. The best saying ever is "if you love what you do for a living, you will never have to work another day in your life" very true

Guy was truly a great man-a hero. He made an impact world-wide as a conservationalist. I will miss him alot, as I am a nature/animal freak myself. Never met a reptile I didn't like. lol

Truly a wonderful human being.
