Steroids and Aspirin

I pulled a muscle and my doctor prescribed an aspirin regimen for the next couple of weeks. Thing is, I 'm on cycle (test/EQ) right now. Since aspirin is liver toxic and so is the stuff I'm taking, can I take both at the same time? I know that you can't drink when on... does the same rule apply to aspirin?

thanks

A prescription for asprin?? Never heard that before. Normally they just tell you to take some over the counter shit. I take advil while on if I need it for like a headache or something... I wouldnt take tylenol though.

Take some liver protection. I like milk thistle 1000mg a day. This should cover you at least help reduce any chance of elevated values for that short of a time period. You should be fine.

Tylenol is more toxic to the liver than aspirin.

No shit he should take what's less damaging. But around here, saying that Item 1 is less dangerous than Item 2 is interpreted as "Don't take Item 2 because it will kill you, but go nuts with Item 1, it's safe as fuck."

It's like with little kids at times.

Damn a doc that prescribes Aspirin to his patients...easy money!!
lol
I could do that better

I take an asprin everyday when I'm on. Keeps the blood thiner. I was told it helps nutrients flow easier to your muscles. Anyway I personally feel better taking 1 in the morning and sometimes 1 before bed than when I don't. So I will continue to do so.

To be honest I would be more worried about the effects of the aspirin inhinbiting protein synthesis than it's liver toxicity.

Show me a report or study that shows asprin inhibiting protein synthesis in anyway!

hi. pharmacist.

the aspirin will be fine, and it isnt terribly liver toxic anyway. dont bother with the so called liver protectants.

there are some doctors who prescribe aspirin to patients but that is usually for the purpose of allowing the patient to claim a rebate from either government, or their insurance company. in australia for example pensioners only pay $3.60 for their drugs, and the government pays the rest, so you get doctors prescribing 300 aspirin tablets (essentially a years supply and 5 boxes worth) and the patient only pays $3.60 for the lot, rather than 3.60 for each box, which would be the case if they bought one at a time

i get the feeling that the doctor didnt "prescribe" aspirin, but rather suggested it. OR it was a combination pain killer with aspirin and codiene phosphate in it.

anyway, cut a long story short - just do exactly what your doctor said, your liver is safe.

cheers

I thought you could buy those at a store??

I don't know where are you from bro but that's why I'm trying to be sarcastic...how a doc can prescribe aspirin if you can freely buy it at any store....It's like if your car is not working and you pay me like 50 bucks only to tell you "put some gasoline and that's it"

A doctor can easily prescribe aspirin, iburpofen, or acetamin. It works out better for the patient because in most cases, the insurance covers it and you get quite a bit (that's not really a lot of money saved, but... you can put those dollars towards more primo).

All NSAIDS inhibit protein synthesis by stopping the activity of prostoglandins. I'm not going to get any more scientific than that. If you have never heard of this it wouldn't do any good to delve deeper. It is fact though. Aleve is the only pain killer that I know of that doesn't inhibit protein synthesis.

there is inhibition and there is retardation. youre not going to get huge slowdowns in protein synthesis.

take people on long term nsaid use - they dont waste away or develop any weird syndromes.

id say the impact is minimal
