Steroids and Accutane

Bro,

I also want to add that Cholesterol is raised significantly while taking this med, so much I had a bud of mine have his raised to levels that would be an imediate threat... I have to take Lipitor for my Cholesterol anyway and my levels on accutane where over 250 so that is one major side effect to watch out...

Poantrex,

Im an the first to admit he was wrong lol I use the damn google search engine to spell check, hummm maybe I am illiterate lol...

Take care bros

I am going to the dermatologist in about an hour and a half and that was thinking about asking him for a script for accutane. I see him at the gym so I think he knows a little about gear. I am planning on telling him that I am doing my first cycle in a couple of weeks, and hopefully he will help me out. After reading this stuff I don't know if I should take it while I'm on. I am on tetracycline right now at 500mg's 2 times a day. I actually only take it once because you are supposed to take it two hours after your last meal and 1 hour before your next meal. I never go 3 waking hours without eating, so I take it in the middle of the night. While on cycle I definitely don't want to go 3 hours without eating. Hopefully, he can atleast give me something I can take with food. Any advice from the experienced would be greatly appreciated. BTW, I don't have real bad skin, it's in check.

First of all, taking accutane while "on" is incredibly stupid. In addition, accutane should NEVER be your first choice for acne treatment - the side effects are very, very harsh and should not be taken lightly. It will dry your skin and make it look worse for the first couple of months, make you very lethargic, and totally screw up your lipid profiles. If you want a drug just to treat gear acne, accutane is not the answer.

There are lighter drugs out there that work just fine, try bactrim.

Thanks Poantrex! Like I said I am on tetracycline right now and my skin is pretty clear and that is taking half the recommended dosage. Honestly I just want to find something I can take with food, so I can actually run it as prescribed. I am aware how harsh the accutane is, I have done a lot of searches on it. I'll ask him about the Bactrim, thanks man!

Bro,

Bactrim and tetracycline are both antibiotics... Tetracycline is used more commonly for acne while Bactrim is more commonly used for Bladder infections etc (When it comes to drugs I have the best source in town, my wife lol 8 years at the pharmacy)... I have used Tetracycline with ok to poor results but again my case was very bad... I do agree with Poan about accutane shouldnt be just used because of some bumps, It is normally the last resort... I personally believe its not as bad as most say but it has to be the person im sure... For me it dried me up like a prune lol and did elevate my cholestrol but my other blood results came back fine after 2 months on, My cholestrol was elevated even ON lipitor so be careful... I didnt take it with gear as it may be to much stress on the body (I actually wouldnt take it with gear) I feel you should wait till after the cycle if you plan to take it and use maybe Tetracycline (antibiotic) or some topical meds...

Poan and by reading your posts im not sure you want to come off that way but its just the way your write that makes people think you are against them? Oh well to each his own...

Take care bro

sounds to me like bigbillybear knows his shit--i'm inclined to agree w/ him again. another thing to consider is that anitibiotics are designed to be taken short term--that's not always the best thing for acne, which may take many months or years to treat. also, u build anti-bodies to the various anti-biotics--which, when u may need those drugs to treat some other disease, they will no longer work. i'm about burned out on every anti-biotic, just something else to think about.

how long have you guys had to stay on accutane?I have been on for a little over 2 months now and i cant wait to get off this shit sucks.

Bactrim is the strongest and harshest antibiotic, and is much more potent than doxycycline and tetracycline. I've taken it for periods of 6-8 months without becoming immune to it, whereas i become unresponsive to tetra within 1 month. Tetra also seems to cause very bad discoloration of the teeth.

dankduke, just a little encouragement. i never really saw significant clearing until just after month 4 (about wk 17). thats when it really seemed to kick in for me. so if you're not satisfied yet, i'm sure its just around the corner.
