Steroids and 12 step programs

Looks to me like it's the 12 step program for alcohol dependance. If your trying to break an addiction it probably isn't smart to juice. Get Ur life on track, career, diet and training. Then juice when u have everything else under control.
Steroids can have harsh consequences on a persons psychological well being, especially after coming off.
Ultimately it would be up to the person as to whether they will juice to cope with an addiction. Juicing and drinking is also pretty bad.
My advice is just be safe. Health, both physical and mental should not be abused.

Focusing on living a healthy life, which can include a well thought out training plan and diet, can be invaluable parts of a persons journey in recovery. It goes right along with "changing people, places, and things". You can also use your new "spare time" to research some of the supplement sources for a good multi vitamin, protein shakes, and creatine, or just browse the forums on this site to see how other people are challenging themselves to achieve there goals. You have some years to max out your natural potential before you should be thinking about Gear, and it can definitely be an important part of your sobriety.
Are you asking if someone here is a steroid user that helps others treat addictions like booze? Or are you an alcoholic that goes to aa but uses juice? If you are battling an addiction then I wouldnt use juice as a crutch. If you work with users that may be kind of immoral to use steroids, but who cares its not like we are living in an alley giving bj's to get steroids.

To clarify I was asking if anyone here had experience with addiction problems, and works a twelve step program like AA or NA. And uses anabolic steroids. I am a recovering addict and have many years of sobriety behind me. Would not be using steroids as "a crutch" and my life is already very straightened out lol. Just thought maybe there was a chance someone on this forum would have experience with this
i know a bit about the program myself... its not designed for those necessarily battling out issues, but rather most people have to stay on those programs to keep themselves accountable...
in REALITY, most people that do AAS have, or at one point have had substance abuse issues... i dont have stats on hand to back it up, but this is a fact as you can just talk to real bro's in the gym and find this out for yourself... i was supposed to follow through with a 12 step but just 'will powered' my way out of my problems, some can do it, some cant... just be reasonable with your doses if you are trying to stay healthy and remember that AAS is still a drug and can have a huge impact on your mood... I've never had any substance abuse problems however moya has a point that the demographic that uses AAS is typically young working-middle class males who are willing to experiment with things and they fit the profile of someone who would have substance abuse issues before.
i was shocked to recently find out that a PT at my gym.. nicest guy you would ever meet. but also had substance abuse issues and also had a violent criminal history and is still on parole. its amazing what substance abuse can do to the nicest of people. the best way to avoid it is just don't mess with it to begin with. there are places you should seek help and hotlines, i suggest you use those places so you don't fall back into the trap.
anytime you feel an urge drive to the gym and take it out on the weights.. works everytime. and don't let women screw you up, use a bad experience as motivation and turn it into a positive. thats the secret to success. when a gf dumped me years ago i was about 24 at the time, i got depressed for a little while then one day decided to turn a negative into a positive and thats when i was re-born healthwise, haven't looked back since. turned to organic food and a more holistic and balanced approach to life and the past decade or so has been awesome

^Yep exactly. The gym and sticking to goals has probably helped keep me focused on staying sober and narcotic free more than anything other than my family.
ya, i mean... medically, what we do is considered abuse, so it will conflict with the 12 step program... however we also control our use (which is totally against the 12 step principal as im sure you know)... so IF you REALLY can keep your aas dosages sane then i dont see a problem...
honestly you would probably be better off staying away from things like tren or halo that can have crazy ass effects on your mood.. i have to myself, or at least limit my tren to a week leading up to a meet or somthing... you could discuss this with your sponsor (assuming you are working the program) but im not so sure they would be for it at all...
i went through that rehab program a long time ago and they wanted me to work the 12 step program because they told me i had no self control... some people need it, some people dont... i realized i was just being a dumbass and got my priorities straight...
but like i said... aas goes in hand with drugs... look at the pro's, lots of them are a complete mess... it may be a time bomb just waiting to go off...

So, the question I am hearing from you, that I'm not sure was completely answered, deals with, can AAS undermine a persons journey in sobriety. Alot of real life examples here point to weight training and diet being important parts of a sober lifestyle. But, I have also seen guys, with a history, get involved in stimulants and coke and falling out of the gym, after getting on steroids. Maybe they would have anyway, it's hard to say. If you feel like you have maxed out your natural potential, and you plan on continuing all the other things you have in place in your sobriety, I don't think the answer is a definite "No". You may choose to try an oral cycle for 6 weeks with all the support and PCT and see how it goes. As with anything, it's all about making your life better, and having balance.

^hmmmm.... i disagree to a point... it may settle ones compulsions to use something..
just as one may expirament with other drugs when they cannot obtain their 'drug of choice'...
though it may also backfire in that same sense... a definite double edges sword...
i went to one meeting after rehab... didnt juice after that for like 6 months (had done a couple smaller cycles before)... so for someone without a great support system (my family is a great help) then things will be more difficult either way...
