Technique has a lot to do with lift totals. Ronnie is no doubt very strong. 805 deads are hard to imagine. I didn't know Ronnie could pull that.
Again, though, specialized lifts indicate several things. After all, Arcidi benched better than 700. You think he is as strong as Ronnie? Anthony Clark benches over 800, but I don't think he dead lifts 805 for three reps.
The most impressive strength I have ever known about, in terms of lifts, has to be Dave (I forgot his last name...Palinetti??), who squatted 855 to the floor three times in an exhibition he gave at a school in Atlanta, Georgia. Fellow died in a car crash, I believe. Anyone know who I am talking about? Last name might be different.
In the week before the Olympics in 96, Tereninco (sp) came into Coffee's gym and pushed 495 over his head several times. He also gripped the meter to 200 lbs with one hand, insantly.
Big Joe Majors, another powerlifter who lives in Atlanta, used to come into Coffee's and crank out some serious lifts.
Curtis squatted around 900 at a body weight of 265.
Even Lex Luger surprised me in the gym. This guy could really push wome weight around, too. Very strong. Lex said to a friend of mine that Animal was the strongest man he had ever met, bar none.
Anyway, its interesting to think about who is the absolute strongest.
