Starter's Diet

Ethereal

New member
Hi!

I'm new to the art of bodybuilding and currently just working out a decent routine to use about three times a week. Although I've noticed that most people on this board seem very hardcore about it, I myself am not very willing to stick on a diet of tuna and shakes. However, I am willing to adapt what I eat to my workouts a bit.

So more plainly my question is: What is a good diet to follow when you want it to help your muscle gain as much as possible, without giving up on all the nice and tasty stuff? Also, should I be looking out for certain ingredients (protein?) in my foods?

Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!

Give it time man. For protien, steak, fish, chicken. If you want hamburgers go with lean meat. I haven't eaten tuna in almost two weeks. I started wanting to puke everytime I started to eat it so I decided to give it up for awhile.

Eat whole wheat breads, long grain or brown rice, lots of vegetables.

Give up fast food. The longer I live the more I realize that stuff is poison. It's not difficult to eat healthy and I find it almost cheaper to eat steak than McDonald's. Just have to buy a big cooler to keep all your foods for the day.

Only use shakes as fill-ins.

Honestly, when someone approaches me and asks advice on how to begin bodybuilding I just refer them to the "Body for Life" program. It's a very good beginners program for diet and exercise.

It's a good program to get started on. But skip most of the B.S. EAS supplements.

you're going to want to eat at least 1g of potein per LB of bodyweight per day, around 150-200g carbs, and watch your fats. Good fats can come from steak and oily fish like salmon.

For protein, eat steak, chicken, tuna, egg whites (whites only, yolk has too much fat and cholesterol) and lean ham. A whey protein supplement, as well as about 5-10g of glutamine per day are also necessities.

Carbs> Long grain/brown rice, oatmeal every morning (about 1 cup) wheat breads, milk. i find oatmeal in the morning helps to curb and evening carb cravings that come with a reduced carb diet.

drink at least a gallon of water per day. watch your milk intake because of the carbs involved, but try to take in at least a few cups of milk per day, its an important part of your diet. You can add crystal light to your water if you're getting bored with plain water. diet coke is also OK. take a good multivitamin, and about 2000mg of vitamin c per day.

PM me if you have any other questions, I can help ya design a diet
