Squats and Deads in same workout

It's probably been discussed before but what are your thoughts on it? I do them on the same night simply because I can't recover fast enough. When I train quads it's taking me about 5 days to feel recovered. I still have soreness throughout the entire day 4 post workout. That gives me 2 days until my next quad day. There's no way my back could recover in 2 days if I were to deadlift on the 5th day after quads.

I always hit squats first. This no doubt takes away from what I can handle on the deads. Maybe I should mix it up and some workouts do deads first.

How often do you train legs?
have you read much on the 5X5 ?
what are your goals?

I do quads once a week. I'm a powerlifter so strength is number one goal. Of course if I put on some muscle mass in the process, that's fine. I've done a little reading on the 5x5 and I even tried it a while back but I got weak during the low weight period.

On Sunday I will squat or goodmorning or rack pull...and possibly do a car deadlift.

On Wednesday I will box squat and then deadlift as well.

I like it.

I'll warmup with a couple of sets of light squats before deads, but not on the same day. I'm doing a slight variation of the 5X5. Squats on Monday and Friday, deads on Wednesday.

I beliieve if you go at least twice a weeek you will lose the sorness..
once a weeek the muscles get a chance to relax or they think you are not going to lift so they start go back the other way. This is how my body works.. i can go 3 times a week after my body has ajusted after say 2 weeks or so the sore goes by by..

same with 2 days a week. but if i rest the muscle 5 or more day the sorness comes back a little 5 days is just small about of sorness and the more days the more sore :D hope that helps.. but a lot of guys complane they are not getting sore.

but there is not link to growth and sorness... as far as i know..

Wow, extra strong I never thoght about that. I was much less sore working my body parts multiple times a week(5x5), then when I used to do them once a week. Just didn't think about how much less sore my muscles are now then before.

I've recently been running the Korte 3x3 (top right corner here) and that has one squatting and deadlifting in the same workout three times a week. It's not necessarily a problem either to do them both together or to deadlift 3x per week.
