Squats and deadlifts?

Will you guys do squats and deadlifts on the same day??

After reading one of the posts on here recently about how important they felt the deadlift was, I have finally worked it into my lifting..today.

First I did a set of squats, then deadlifts.

I felt like I had one hell of a workout today..I must have looked funny walking out of the Y because my legs felt like jello.

Now I am looking forward to leg workout days....

I do a two-day split, squats on day A, deads on day B. If doing the same day, going heavy on one tends to hinder whichever you do second, imo.

It all depends on what you are used to. I got a PB in the Squat, Deadlift and Military Press today.

Squats don't hinder my deadlifts... but I think DL's would hinder my squats if I did them first.

I box squat and speed deadlift on Wednesdays...then I do overhead press and front squats. The important stuff.

The split I just finished looked like this.

Mon: Chest/abs
Tues: Deads/back
Wed: Cardio/bis
Thurs: Shoulders/tris
Fri: Squats/abs

Personally I hate doing squats and deads in the same day once you start going max effort one is always going to effect the other.

Many people do squats and deads on the same day.

I do light squats (really light) and then heavy deads on the same day also over head press.

I would suggest doing squats first and then deads if you are going to do them on the same day.

In the 5x5 programs you squat and dead in the same day. Depending on the program or your level of experience it seems to differ a little. Beginners would squat light, and the more advanced lifter would squat heavier on the same day as the deadlift. The other thing I noticed is that you do squat before you dead, and useually there is a non leg involved lift inbetween, like bench/incline bench/m press.

....I wouldn't know this if I hadn't recently started doing a 5x5 program. haha

Thanks for the replies!

After yesterday I won't be doing either for several days, must have been working some new muscles..I am SORE! :)

I squat and dead on the same day. One day I do squats first, the other I do deads.

Seems to me I work my quads almost nothing while doing deads. My ass and hamstrings get pumped though. When leg pressing and squats my quads go on fire. When they pump up it hurts like a bitch, but in a good way. IMO it's much better to do the deads first. If you go hardcore on squats, your deadlift performance will suffer, but If you do deads first, you will still perform your squats at 100% efficiency. That's how it is for me.
