if your joints are making noises during a lift there is something wrong. ignoring that will worsen the problem. eventually you will suffer from it.

I would have her checked out by a competent sports doctor/physiologist before continuing with squats. It may be nothing serious, but is it worth taking the risk? As a personal trainer the OP is taking a huge risk too.

Osteoarthritis (for example) can start at an early age.
