Squat question......

I normally do squats with a stance a little wider than shoulder width apart, i was reading in a mag the other day that a narrow stance hits your quads more.....my question is does it hit the quads enough to make a noticeable difference?

I'm gong to guess this varies person to person. I squat wide, and even though I make a conscious effort not to squat with my quads, they still grow like mad.

The position of your legs is going to determine the area of the quads that is most impacted. That is why some people will do front squats, box squats, sumo squats, etc. However, the difference is not as noticeable to someone who is just trying to put on mass. This comes into play more for those who are trying to shape their legs rather than build them. I always suggest right around shoulder width, keeping your feet flat, and focusing more on the motion (which can make the difference).

Good Luck.

boulder is right on
the legs together squats help to create more of a sweep
for a power lifter this doesn't matter, but for a competitive bb this makes a big difference

I'd say a little wider than shoulder-width IS close stance, hitting your quads more. Wide stances for PL are WIDE.
