Squat Lockouts w/ 10 Plates Per Side! Took 3 attempts to nail it!

My area of concern is your back, that would be IMO what most likely could be compromised first. Your beginning a basically concentric only movement with your back in what seems to be a bad position once your under weight. Going from no stress and no gear to 300 lbs or whatever more than you can do fully geared up, I just don't see the benefit. On your third attempt after failing twice, you did hit it... I'm not questioning your tenacity, I just don't see the use... I'm sure your strong and young with a healthy back but injuries come in the weirdest situations.

I've trained with and been taught by some of the best squatters in the world and have never seen these guys do it nor heard of them doing it... that's all... not saying there is only one way to do it cuz I know plenty that don't work, just saying...

No I don't do lockouts, I have a strong lockout and strong off my chest, I stall 3-5 inches of my chest so I do plenty of board work in that area and work lockouts by other means...

Like you, I train my weakpoint until I find a new one but I was just offering up my thoughts...

Thank you for writing out all that, i DEF do see your opinion and i will seriosuly take note of it.

same with me on bench, i only stall off the chest as like you.

thank you for your opinion.

Kewl dude... I just noticed on that video that your hips weren't under the bar in that position and after watching a couple of your other vids, noticed the same thing.... When you missed the second, you eventually missed it backwards... In my opinion, if you could get your hips directly underneath the bar, keep your chest up and sit back as hard as you can and stay tight as fuck.... 750 no prob....

The strength is there, just have to work on technique and EVERYONE ALWAYS has to improve technique....

yea, you are DEF right, form is everything. Especially in a suit. My technique is FAR from perfect.

I have to get new updated videos of the squat. My form has improved dramaticlly. Especially since incorporating the Saftysquat bar in my routines (goodmornings w/ chains, etc)

You seem to very knowledge in this field as well, do you compete?

Yes I do... getting ready for one in a couple of months... sorta nursing a knee injury so as soon as I'm ready to go back under the knife... I'll be back to squatting... now prepping for a push / pull and finally got some good partners...

I thought, like others, I knew what I was doing.... then got a couple of kewl oppurtunities to hang with some good peeps and found out if there were 10 things to do wrong, I was doing all 10...

Also realized the best thing you can do for this sport is help others and promote it as best as you can... sorta your responsibility when getting into powerlifting in order to keep it going... most last for a year or two max then fade to oblivion...

I've also learned a lot of shit gets alleged or said over the internet so let your lifts and passion do the talking... the rest is all B.S.

great reply bro, appreciate it.

i learned the hard way as well about my benching techniques. I had to drive 1hr away to meet up at a famous Power lifting gym (Skiba's Gym). Learned everything i was doing wrong.

My coach squats 850+lbs and is 41 yrs old. all natural his whole life. (and i know this because he keeps chatting with us about going on and how he doesn't want to because he has pride for not doing it after these years)

So i am picking up learning from him as time passes.

Thank you for your reply again brother.

Also what feds do you compete in? I just started out so im still doing some APF/AAPF meets. I got my next competition in May.

Getting ready to for some SPF meets and looking into APF / AAPF as well... sorta depends on geography where you end up... Westside Barbell hosted the most recent APF / AAPF meet in my area, Ohio... theres another good one coming up soon but I'm sorta honing in my stuff right now and having fun. I finally got two strong guys to train with, pretty much my best friends now, one which is young, brand new to the game and one of the strongest guys I've ever seen, natty or not... and the other who's strong, talks a ton of shit and is a blast to be around...

I stole this but basically sums up what I was trying to say before...

It's about 5 things:

1. Eliminating the B.S.
2. Doing what works
3. Being extreme
4. Always looking forward
5. Always paying it forward

you are so right. Training partners really make a difference. Especially with us, we lift as a Team. its me and 2 guys my age (20ish) and then him who is 41. lol we make him feel young again i know it. We trash talk the entire workout which motivates the shit out of us. But when it comes to the lift nothing negative is said and only possitive cheers when its game time.

paying it forward is huge. my first suit was a lender, sent to me buy a guy on this site. i love this sport and i wish it was possible to make a living off it.

Ill be in Ohio for the arnold. hope to see ya there bro talk some techniques.

my deadlift videos are old with conventional stance.

my new sumo style pullin keeps me upright. ill upload a recent deadlift video from last weekend. You can easily see how inexpierienced i was on those deadlift videos.

and yes i do have a coach now, in the videos you have seen, no.

Good to hear you have a lot of potential. I would hate to see you get hurt before you reach it.

"Talks a ton of shit"? Jealousy rears its ugly head. Now you and jealousy have something in common!

I believe I have done 550 plus @ 170 bench lock-outs. The only carry over I got from this was agonizing pain in my shoulders. I'm all down for trainning CNS, but do not compromise longivity for instance gratification.

I can rep and press a shit load on illegaly wide bench, but I paid alot for ART therapy also. But I'm a bench only guy who does not look like I "workout".
