Spyware situation....

My pc is running faster even after I just closed out a lot of the spyware programs in my task manager. I'm hoping I will be able to use Ad Aware or Spybot to get rid of the stuff, but something makes my pc shut down when Ad Aware is scanning my system. Is Spybot any better, or do I have to get the registered version of anything for it to work?

Also, I have Norton Anti-virus software on my pc; how good is this compared to other anti-virus software?

Get a cheap/free one like webroot for now, and scan it to remove what you have and then see if your adware will work.

Use all of them. Spybot, Adaware, a virus scanner. Some catch some that others do not.

how voodoo, i just had this. mcaffee sucks, it couldnt remove one trojan adware thingo and didnt even detect 2 more. i used the cleaner but it screwed up my connection

im going to ahve to fiddle a bit it seems

There must be an easier way......

Probably need to get rid of the source first and then just keep it clean by continually running one good anti-spyware program, as well as an anti-virus.

Go to www.download.com and get spy cleaner gold. It only lasts for 15 days, but it is a good program.
