Last book I read, Spiderman had died was in the Avengers tower awaiting final preparation plans when something busted out of his torso alien style leaving behind the empty body and skin husk. Later it/he/whatever cocoon itself up under a beach pier and was waiting to hatch.
No clue what it turned out to be.
That costume looks like what the Scarlet Spider would have worn if he had more money to design one.
