I create t-shirt designs and sell them on the internet. I'm making around $600/month profit right now and I'm working on increasing that. I'm sure I could've been making at least two or three times that much by now, but I spent a lot of time goofing off. But I'm working on making at least $1200/month by the end of this year. I'm sure that soon I will be making thousands of dollars per month from selling t-shirts. Once I create a good selling design, it becomes passive income for me (because I have a service print and sell them for me). It keeps selling and paying me forever. I love passive income. For instance, in January I did no work because my computer died and I had to shop for parts and build a new one. But I still made $600 profit anyway for doing nothing. That is so much better than working for other people, who pay you only once for each hour that you work.
You don't need college unless you want to work for a company. I hate working for other people. They treat me very badly. It's like being a slave. But whether or not you go to some kind of school, you need to learn useful knowledge and skills that you can use to make money. Razorguns is right about bringing value. I bring value by giving people cool designs that they want to wear on their shirts. Most people who try to make t-shirt designs are idiots and they have no skill or talent. So I have a big advantage over them. I have a 140 IQ and a lot of artistic talent. I have skills and knowledge of graphics software and of art. I did take several art classes at a community college, but I didn't get a degree. I learned other things on my own, such as how to use Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, 3D Studio Max, and web design and web coding. Another important thing is that I studied some marketing books and I studied the t-shirt business. So I have a good understanding of what the customers want, so I can make designs that they will buy. Most of the other people that try to make t-shirt designs make weird, bizarre designs that show no understanding of the market and don't sell.
I'm sure there are a lot of other money making opportunities. You just have to look for them and find something that is suited to you doing what you love and what you have talent for.
The world is full of opportunities. You just have to have a positive attitude and go find them.
The problem with being self employed is that in the beginning you don't know what you're doing, so you can't make any money and it's very hard and frustrating. This is the reason that 95% of new businesses go out of business: they don't know what they're doing! But if you don't give up, you can eventually learn enough about your business field to make good money. The more you know, the more you can make. It also takes action. You can't be lazy. In the long run, working for yourself is FAR better than working for other people, because you have unlimited income potential and you can do whatever you want and you can have a lot of passive income. You can use other people to do the daily grunt work, while you enjoy yourself.
