Yes folks.. you read right ONLY 225.

But check it..

Last year I put up 1 rep of 135 for the first time in my life... now just a little over a year later I am put up 225.

Gains are still coming, although maybe a little slower at first.. and for now I have been all natural.

I wonder how long it will take me to turn that one rep into a nice set of 8-10...

I hit that up when I was 14 dude...you suck.

Just joking bro, we all gotta start somewhere, nice progress.

Heck of a job!!!! A PR is a PR!!!!

I remember my first day lifting. I benched, with lots of help, 95 pounds. I also could not squat the smith machine bar...

Keep working in the right direction...

Nice! I'm WAY WAY more impressed with the guy who busts his ass to get what he has, DESPITE poor genetics, moreso than I am with a genetic freak that benches #300 the first time he touches a straightbar. Keep up that hard work brother. You should be proud of yourself!!

Thanks guys...

its funny how when I started I was like wow.. It will be so cool to be able to do 225.. now that I have hit it... its really nothing special.. I'm already looking forward to 315 next year!

Thats awesome bro. Great progress, and props to you for not being another net bench press bullshitter!

WTF...you saying I can't believe all the stuff I read here? I thougt the TOS demanded honesty? Damn...guy can't believe anything these days.

So NJSerious may not have a 12" dick? Stuff like that?

gratz bro... that's a major accomplishment... i am sure some dick will come on this thread and say that it isn't much weight but trust me i started with a whopping 135 as my max when i first started too.

Benching 2 plates on each side was a major accomplishment for me when I started. That's a great feeling, and about 30 minutes later it's like fuck i gotta get 305 now! Then later on 325, and 365..... LoL, it never stops bro, just keep on training and getting stronger.

Make sure that you keep a journal man...you will really like looking back one day and remembering the day that you benched 225...

Nice progress. It is about how you lift the weight, not necessarily how much. As long as you overload your muscles and use proper form, you body will thank you by looking pretty damn deizel.

Not about how much weight you lift??! 2Thick, you bodybuilders confuse me...j/k

:lmao:

Congrats Lestat, it took me what seemed like forever to get 2 wheels. Next stop 315...enjoy the ride.

Congrats on the lift!

When I started lifting a little over a year ago, I was benching the bar for reps.

Now my 1RM is 232, and I'm like you. I kept looking forward to 2 plates, got that, and immediately started thinking about 3.

good effort i'm about the same benching level as you although i've been training longer wish i was better but nothing i can do other than persevere and train hard

My bench has gone up and down my hole lifting career. I started at 14 years old benching 90 lbs. I've benched 405 at one point, now I'm down to about 300 after losing a lot of weight this past year.

good job, son. took me a year or so to get up to 225 myself and it sure is a nice feeling.

i also wanted to let the board know that yesterday at the gym i successfully loaded 315 onto a bar and then unloaded it. i was pretty nervous because the previous week i was only able to get 285 on there before i passed out and had to have someone come over and remove all the plates for me. but this time i psyched myself up for a good 2-3 minutes and nailed it. you should've seen me after i took that last plate off the bar, i was beaming and everyone in the gym was like "hell yeah, ssme. you are a damn loading and unloading machine." then just for kicks because i was feeling kind of cocky, i loaded and unloaded 225 two times.

Write this day down on a calendar, bro. I wish I had. I'd celebrate the first time I benched 225 lbs every year.

It was my big goal when I started training.

225 lbs used to be called the "landslide" lift back in the '70s. In order to get strong you have to lift heavy; however, prior to 225 lbs you can't lift heavy. Once you can hit 225 lbs, you can lift heavy, and you can finally really start working with weight that gives you bigger gains, gains seem to come in a landslide after 225 lbs... hence the nickname.

You'll be doing it for doubles before you know it.

(Oh, and please tell me you are squatting and deadlifting. If you are hitting 225 lbs on bench now... you'd better be working your legs or they aren't going to keep up.)

I was 11 and had a crappy 85 or 90 pound bench :D I tried the entire 105 (old set of weights) and basically made an ass of myself, doh.

Yes I squat and deadlift... I started both later then I started everyhting else (like most people)...

I unfortunately have to do my squats on a smith machine, my gym has no power rack or cage (liability reasons).. I work out at my company gym (its free).. I deadlift 225lbs for sets or 6 or so.. I've made gains on that and they are still coming.
