Its good?

omg yes. I bought the vanilla flavored one... and i haven't looked to see the sugar content, but its sweet and good. I've had non flavored soy milk and its sweet too though.

don't expect it to taste like milk and you'll like it.

I've been drinking soy milk for 10 years. I  it.

Silk makes an unsweetened soy milk (green carton), if you are concerned about the sugar. I use that for my protein shakes. They also make a creamer for coffee.

Vanilla Soy Milk + Oatmeal + Blueberries = :p :p :p

Do you drink it because you are lactose?

someone in my house is but i just usually drink skim milk. I was out so i tried the soy. I forgot how good it is- i used to drink it years ago.

you people. she'd have to drink 4 gallons a day to turn into an estrogen balloon.

soy milk is good for you. I drink Westsoy organic unsweetened Vanilla:

100 cal/cup
4.5 g fat
300 mg potassium
5 g carb
4 g fiber
9 g protein

I put it in coffee, tea, cereal, oatmeal, protein shakes...and I cook with it. I have not turned into an estrogen balloon.

The thing about soy is that MOST of the soy you buy is genetically-manipulated it's no longer organic it's become a cheap filler and binder for all foods and it's selling because the ORGANIC traditionally producded soy products like soy milk, tempeh, tofo, nato and miso (yes miso) were found to reduce cholesterol levels and heart disease.

What is genetically manipulated soy?

Soy protein isolate, soy protein concentrate, hydrolyzed soy protein and texturized soy protein.

If you eat anything out of a bottle, box, can, glass or plastic container and foil wrappers (protein bars, etc) you are eating genetically manipulated soy.

I'd go on but I'd drive most of you bonkers.

what if i sucked it straight out of a soy cow?

lol
the organic section of my grocery store sells rice milk and organic soy milk i just found out.

what's wrong with soy? the estrogen thing?

There's nothing wrong with the milk itself, providing it's organic - it's that non-organic soy is in everything else you may eat so you are not only getting the phytoestrogens found in the milk.

i deleted my question after I saw you had already answered it. I'll try the organic soy next, and rice milk too.

ok. I'll buy that.

I get freaked out over the genetically engineered soy. WTF? It's not like regular old soybeans are hard to grow. :D

Westsoy is a good brand. It even says on the lable that they don't grow GE soybeans - only certified organic.

hmmm. i will. its not at the grocery store though. i'll have to pick some up next time i'm at a health food market.

EXACTLY. Some researchers believe that eating soy helps your body utilize estrogen. I'm the only female in my family that has never had a lump that had to be removed or a fibroid.

If you are this concerned about soy, you might want to also look at the hormones pumped into cows and other sources of meat.

lmao...for hormones being pumped???

so...how often do you scrape your knees on the track? Do the knee pads have to be replaced often?

I watch on tv and am amazed at how far you have to lean over round those turns.

i scrape everytime i go out...not in every turn tho. some dont require that degree of lean angle....on the track you can burn up a set in a day, depending on the way you ride...its all realitive. its a strange feeling to scrape yourself across the pavement and not hurt...lol.. ;)

That's true too...

Have you seen the ten year olds these days???
:worried:

I'm seriously considering a chicken farm on the property - hell I've gotten used to the rooster why not get some chickens and eggs out of it all.

And to think I'm a city girl.

what are the pads made out of?

a polyurethane plastic- high density so it slides real easy...unless you hit a "Botz Dot"...those little reflectors in the road- hurt.

Oh, I know, because I was one of those 10 y.o. girls.

LOL!! At least two of my neighbors in Queens had roosters.

Chickens?? I'm too much of a city girl. When I'm ready to convert to organic meat, I'm heading to Whole Foods. I'll skin & gut a fish, but I'm not cleaning a chicken.

I have butchered many a chicken...and am still not used to it. The first time, I lost my grip and it got away from me, spraying blood all over my face. oi.

After that, I stopped cutting their heads off and began hanging them upside down by their little chicken feet with a slip knot rope. Slice through the neck to the bone and let them bleed out. Much less traumatic.

That's why we have hormone free up here. All grains fed to the cows are grown locally with no pesticides added.

Hey Stilleto...you want to suck a cow dry? :p

might get some

NO>. especially if you're male.. the phytoestrogens in soy milk are HORRIBLE for you!!

you all dont know much about soy do you?

we covered this already. see Vel's posts. i'm a non-guy, so i'm not worried about my non-testicles.

Soy milk has ass loads of sugar. That's why it tastes good.

I prefer carb countdown myself.

my soy milk is ass-load free of sugar.

I believe the correct term is "unsweetened".

i prefer to use grammar that contains the word "ass", thankyouverymuch.

i'm not worried about estrogen. maybe I should be, but i'm not.
