Someone explain the "I don't give a damn about my body" mentality...

The only time I hate fat people apart from the types that walk around with the false lat syndrome giving me the I am strong and intidimidating look is when you see a hot girl with a fat girl and you try and chat up the hot girl, start getting somewhere and the damn fat girl pulls her away like some jealous bitch

THAT FUCKS ME OFF!!

I wonder why people can't do it. If I'm tempted by junk food, I think about what I'd rather have... 5 minutes of bliss by eating it... or 24 hours of feeling good about not.

It's the mentality of this country. Meaning that nobody wants to work for anything. Look at the supplements out there, the majority don't work, but use knockoff names of roids to entice people to buy them. No science behind them at all. They prey on the uneducated, lazy consumer. Same goes for fast food restaurants, they're everywhere. How many people do you know that eat a well-balanced, or even moderately balanced home-cooked meal? There was a time that people ate meals together, almost daily. Now, most jobs don't allow people to do that, nor do most people even learn how to cook anything...let alone healthy meals. BodySolutions, Metabolife, and other "weight loss" miracles advertise no long strenous workouts, lose weight while you sleep, Atkins no carb diets, etc. Again preying on the lazy mentality of the general public.

I own a health food catering business, doing a lot of work out of gyms, etc. I talk to people everyday, all the time about eating right, and I get the most ridiculous excuses. Even in my gymn, people tell me that they only workout so they can eat whatever they want, but they're still overweight, out of shape, etc! I rarely get any business from personal trainers, which I don't understand, because every client I had, I have demanded a sustained effort on eating habits change. And I know tons of trainers. I know in California there are a lot of health food restaurants, they do well, but here in Texas, I'd never take the chance to open one, because most people do not want to eat right, let alone workout. In my gymn yesterday, there was a woman working out with a pt buddy of mine.....she weighed 375, (at least that's what she said....I'm thinking at least 400), and didn't want to talk about her eating habits! That's actually normal for a lot of people.

Jen's story is not a-typical. Most fat people don't start out fat, they get that way graduallly. I played football and worked out in high school. I was always overweight, even in the middle of the season, but not fat. However, when I got out of HS and went to college, I stopped working out, stopped running, and really began to pack on the pounds. I got fat. As Jen said, it gets to the point that you just don't care. You figure that you're stuck like this so you might as well do what you want. However, not every fat person is happy like they are. Some are actually making an effort to improve themselves. The road back takes a while, so cut fat people like me some slack....some of us are trying.

PS. There is, in my mind at least, a difference in being overweight and fat.

all my life I have been obsessed with my body. I started taking ballet at age 8, and I wanted nothing more then to be super thin. I would starve myself for days, workout for hours until I seriously blacked out---then go to a couple ballet classes. But I just don't have the body type to be thin......my body was totally fighting against me. Then I would binged on everything in site because I was so hungry----and start the cycle all over again.

I did that for about 10 years----so I fucked up my metabolism big time. Its very exhausting when your fighting your body, and mentally your never happy no matter how much weight you loose. It was a battle I had been fighting all my life, and I just said FUCK IT!!! I will never be thin----so then I became pretty big instead of just maintaining.

So, now that my goals are for health and strength, and to look strong and lean, instead of just thin----life is so much better for me! I get to EAT, while loosing fat. I'm stronger then I have ever been in my life---curling 30 pound dumbbells I'm proud to say.

I'm glad I have experienced being big. I know how people feel, and what it takes to get in shape after getting so far out of shape.

Some people that are really big-----300 + may have a thyroid problem as well. Don't' judge people on their looks, that is just vain. Everyone has a story to tell, each person is different. And so they are lazy--well, alot of people are just as lazy and they are thin. Alot of body builders are lazy too. Maybe not lazy about getting to the gym, but in other areas of their lives.

you're projecting your needs onto other people, then getting confused when they don't find your needs as important as you find them. i'm sure computer geeks say the same thing about us.

'how can they not spend 4 hours a day learning about STP ethernet cables? have they no self esteem?'

its aaaaaaalllllll relative.

does anyone else here get called fat because they are muscular? i weigh 270 with 26% bf (ok, so i am fat. shrug). people who hear me say i weigh 270 think i am 130lbs of muscle & 140 lbs of fat instead of 200 lbs of muscle & 70 lbs of fat. it is somewhat annoying.

besides, you would think that in today's day & age we have drugs that can cause weight loss w/o dieting. dnp & ephedrine should work. and no side effects (well, blood pressure, hypoglycemia, allergic reactions, headaches, insomnia, sweating, yellow bodily fluids, fucked ketone levels, etc.).

Exactly!!

i was going to say i was complacent with being skinny until i felt squishy and people asked if i ate... then i decided it was time to do something about it...

I dont like fat people. They are just plain, lazy. It doesn't take a lot of time to run for about 30 mins a day.

I have no respect for fat people. Rarely I do.
