Sodium and Test?

Everyone is always saying be careful of sodium intake.....now it has me concerned. What is considered high? I find myself watching everything and even minimizing mustard and condiments. Do you watch sodium ha closely or is it purly cosmetic? I nicked my cc before bed because of the 4% daily rda in soidum....dumb? Can I bring it back?

It hard to totally watch your sodium intake, almost everything has . I just try to be aware. Use less salt. It will help your blood pressure a little more while on.

Nah I use ZERO salt...however, I usually use mustard, chrystal light, deit sodas by the gallon....well not that much but a good amount....should I watch that?

The guideline daily allowance over here is 6g. I measured out 6g and it's a huge amount. It's shocking that people need to be told to keep themselves down to a small mountain of salt per day.

I think that if you prepare your own fresh, food rather than buying microwave meals and eating take-aways every day then you have little to worry about.

So let's say a serving of mustard says 4% total RDA....but a tiny jar has like 100 servings...you easily use 5-10 servings on the avg. do this 10 times (with different sources, some waters flavored, etc, diet pop) and it's easily getting high, no?

mustard has around 55mg of sodium per 2 tblspn which is a shit ton of mustard. Just watch how much your chicken has, find a chicken that has low sodium etc... Your doing perfect by not adding salt to any foods. I think your doing fine and dont need to worry.

k...and also, why do so many avoid cottage cheese and skim milk? I love it but am afraid to use it....I have dry curd which has like 1% sodium RDA per serving.....low compared to most.....will it still give you the puffy look?

I usually don't avoid foods that have salt but I also don't add much either. Some salt is good for ya especially when you are in the gym sweating a lot of it out.

I think the biggest problem with sodas is the liver-destroying high-fructose corn syrup. Salt is a lesser concern.

You can take both. :)

Luckily, I rarely crave much sweetness so even my molasses/sugar usage is minimal. Maybe the odd, occasional teaspoon in a pasta sauce.

ideally you are supposed to get twice the potassium as compared to sodium intake.

sodium intake over 2 grams with test will usually make you bloated as all hell (even with AI's), however keeping up pottasium intake will offset this

there are no issues with sucralose.

agree fully on the HFCS issues
agree somewhat on the nutrasweet issue
I get the impression that the full situation on Splenda is yet to be resolved. Still, I'm no chemist so take that with a pinch of salt-substitute.

Pretty much anything is fine in moderate doses but when someone measures his usage, albeit facetiously, in gallons then I'd suggest that caution was in order.

Gotta watch the salt especially while on, its in everything and it is bad on bp if too much .. for ex. have a cheat day and eat two double cheeseburgers ,you just went over what the american heart assocition says is healthy for a day (sodium wise)

You dont got to get anal about it, but it cant hurt..
