Soda v. Water

Hi y'all -

Any opinions/knowledge regarding the effect on cutting/building drinking diet soda instead of water causes? I read a post where someone said something to the effect "Too much of anything can make you fat, including Diet Coke"

Wondering if this is true, and if so, how does that work?

I'm not an expert but I'd say thats not true... unless you drink like 10,000 a day or something. I don't think that its a great idea to drink a ton of diet soda though. No-one is really quite sure what all the weird stuff they put in there is gonna do to you. But as far as getting fat I'd say you are safe.
 
Diet soda doesn't get you fat. IT contains a lot of sodium which it retains water. But if you drink a cup of water w/ the soda, you can piss the sodium all out and you won't retain water. I drink diet soda all dayy, keeps me from craving junk food.... Every other day or so I drink like 3 cups str8 of water at night so i can piss out all the sodium.....
 
Theoretically, drinking a ton of Diet Coke could raise your body fat percentage. I know people who didn't eat much, did some low-intensity aerobic work, drank a shit load of diet stuff to keep themselves away from junk food, and got fatter.

That's possible because they lost a bunch of muscle, didn't lose any fat, and bf% went skyhigh. Lost a little bit of weight, but didn't look any better, probably worse.
 
YEah, they are stupid,. I just drink it to keep away from the cravings of junk food but i still have my 6 meals a day. all healthy food. I have lost percentage of b/f and still am. Diet soda won't make a difference in your diet but it sure helps mine in a mental way....
 
I would stay away from diet soda whenever possible..maybe make it one of your cheats. If you want something other than water drink the flavored ones(if your big, no one will say shit)...and they are much better than soda(no sodium, carbonation, caffeine).
 
diet soda won't make you fat: they have no calorie and don't cause an insulin spike

But plain water is much better :(
