So why am I the only one that uses the squat rack??

Ok I lift 5x a week, usually 60-75 minutes, plus 30 minutes of cardio 4-6 days... I RARELY see the squat rack being used.... Too few do deads or squats these days. WTF is wrong with people? :mad:

sorry just had to rant a bit... oh well, more squatting for me :biggrin:
 
cuz' guys can get big without them. i personally want to be functionally strong as well as look strong. far too many dudes out there that are all show and no go.

Heh. I just want to get strong. Sure, I look crappy, but I'm not out trolling anymore.

uhm... squats are like the most important exercise................. you can get big without them... but with them, you can get bigger :evil:

At least your the only guy! At my gym, I swear I'm the only person that uses the squat rack. Most of the guys at my gym do bench presses, shoulder presses and do bicep curls. Well, there is this guy that loads the barbell with 4-5 plates on each side, after he benches one set, he walks to the power cage, looks at it and talks to people. I have yet to see him actually squat.

I admit most of you guys and girls can probably toss my current squat weight across the room, but this is my first time pushing myself w/ the weights, so 115lbs (total) is heavy for me.

For someone that has never really lifted before, I think I've made some progress.

Isolation machines have seen the death of squats and deads. Basically, too many people see squats as a pure hammy exercise, but it also brings out your lower back, quads, glutes, and even your calves get strong. The deadlift brings out your hams, glutes, lower back, and gives you massive traps. Power Cleans will bring out your shoulders and tris, and snatches will give you blistering explosive strength, flexibility and great reactions. Look at those benefits and you'll agree than any exercises that can give them to you are good ones. However, a combination of poor technique and wanting it easier has ment people are gone to resistant machines. IMO they are foolish as they walk past some of the best equipment and weights in the gym in search of an easier pump.
 
Hey 115 is not bad at all! I can only squat with the rack....I see chicks using the smith machine and that thing just bugs me so do the pussy pads that they use for their neck!

Well, Mr Oak, I doubt. Even the big MoFo's are squat dodgers. Too much gear and too little proper training knowledge me thinks.
 
where I train the big guys squat and dead large numbers, btw I train at the same gym as needsize,if ya ever saw his vids

i only weigh 95 lbs...

as it is i go home looking like someone hit me with a baseball bat under my neck on my traps...im not trying to get a perma indentation

Stick the squat bar right onto the traps and you'll never need the pad as the bar rests comfortable there (exactly where it belongs too). Put the pad where it belongs - In the bin.

iv tried it. it hurts even with like the 25's on :worried:
 
i used the pad a few times, because of the discomfort.

but ultimately, i think it is unstable and therefore unsafe, so i ditched it.

it's not a question of being pussy, or not...that is the product of a moronic thought
process.

well right now i'm training on a military base... there aren't very many big guys here that I've seen... thats probably part of the problem tho :rolleyes:
 
ya your back will eventually build up muscle so that the bar rests on the muscles and there will be a dip were the bar fits perfect. :)

i dont want the bar to force a dip into my back so it can "fit perfect"
 
I use the rack at least 3 times a week and I've never had to wait in the last 2 years.
the only peeps who use it use it for shrugs or 1/4 sq's (sublime style). Even the monsters in my gym are glued to the leg press
when they do sq's (once a year) i smoke the shit outta them

I love that people do not do them. Means I am stronger then them, and i feel like when i am doing them they are looking at me thinking fuck he must be tough squats suck.. and it helps me push out 2-3 extra reps.
 
My gym has a thing like a squat "cage" that's more enclosed on 4 sides, sort of..... Plus we have a squat rack, where the bar rests on pegs then you step back & you're over a flat part......

The group of guys @ my gym use the cage -- I didn't like it, so I use the rack. I'm the ONLY woman who does squats that I've ever seen & I'm the ONLY person in the WHOLE gym who does SLDLs.....

Which is fine with me cuz then no one is in my way.....

At my gym there are plenty of guys who use the squat cage -- for curls, leg lifts, shrugs...
 
only pussies use a squat rack at my old giant's gym everyone did them freestyle, the type of gym with 200lb plates and no girls

i was doing those with dumbells once... and some total NOOBS had the nerve to try and correct me on my form... they didn't even know what I was doing... I was about to lay into them, but It was 2:00am during work so I wasn't inclined to so much at the moment :rolleyes:

I get the same crap doing good morning exercises, they are like that's going to injure your back and Im forced to lay the smack down and then I slap on 225lbs and do my good mornings
