So sad!!!!

My friend just had her second baby, a beautiful lil girl. Well her sis and bro in law went up to visit her. When bro in law went to make his baby a bottle, he found new mommy asleep, she was breast feeding her newborn...and OMG, the poor baby suffocated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sends chills through my body and brings a tear to my eye every time i think of it. Mother is not doing good what so ever. Poor thing

that has got to be terrible.... i couldnt imagine the guilt she must feel... my prayers go out to her and her baby...

It happens more than you would think it does
I worked with a woman whos sis in law did that....
I dont think a woman should breast feed when she is laying in bed asleep. She needs to sit up and pay attention
Its so sad too

i have heard of parents sleeping with the child and then rolling onto them, but never this, and i never thought something like that would happen to any one i knew, let alone was close to

So let me get this straight. The mother fell asleep and the baby suffocated? Couldn't the baby just stop sucking?

Either way still really sad.

moments in life.. even seconds.. things we consider insignificant.. sometimes mean so much...

We never think about it till there are consequences...

she was pressing the boob in the babies mouth

She was lying down when she was breast-feeding? Most women sit-up when breast-feeding .. hard to fall asleep that way.

Either way -- that's sad. :(

When breastfeeding, you do not "press the boob in the babies mouth". If you are sitting in proper position, then the baby will latch on and pull away when s/he is done. No force involved.

If she was laying down, then that is NOT the proper position. No wonder baby had the opportunity to suffocate. If she had been sitting up (even if she fell asleep), then baby would have been able to pull away.

Regardless, it is tragic and a horrible thing.

I know some women who lay the baby on a pillow to prop them up, and the woman leans back a bit, i did this from time to time, just depended on how engorged i was
