Is fruit good for you or bad for you?

why does Mr. X say to stay away from it in certain cases?
i always thought fruit was good for you...

what are downsides of eating fruits?

i believe he's referring to the type of sugar frequently found in it, fructose.

and that it isnt especially good in that it tends to be used as a source of energy for fat.

but fruit is high in fibre and many different vitamins and minerals and important chemicals we need. so i personally eat it when bulking, and when cutting restrict my intake of it to a minimum but try and eat more vegatables as a result

some fruits are also contain less carbs theen others. i believe strawberries and tomato's are low in carbs

In general, fruit is good for you (health-wise).
But:

1. Fruit is definitely not good for someone who is trying to stay in Ketosis diets (which are incredibly popular around here for getting lean)
2. There are more efficient ways of getting carbs if you want to (pure sugars, etc.)

If you are trying to gain weight, or want a sweet snack without a lot of fat, fruit shouldnt be bad.

a good multivitamen in combo with a fib supplement should help ahceive the benefits from fruit wiothout the fructose.

Fruit = good

low in calories, high in fiber. If you are on a balanced diet, it's one of the best things you can eat.

disagreed. It would be better replaced with a low gi carb source for extended glycogen release throughout the day.
Oatmeal > fruit.

People... sometimes we have to think about all the BS we're taught as we grow up about whats good for you and what's not. Don't always assume that just because some dipshit on a commercial said it's part of a balanced diet that its good. More recent research has proven many healthy alternatives to older, 70's/80's based diet theory. These alternatives may sound odd but they are based on studies and have more validity than what your grandma told you. Sry if i'm off topic but I've just seen too many people afraid to admit that there are SOO many other alternatives to getting the benefits of fruits without the liver glycogen storage potential.

Fruit is not good or bad. It's just food. I don't know of any vitamins, minerals or phytonutrients that you can get from fruit that you CAN'T get from vegetables. Without a doubt many of our ancestors enjoyed and looked forward to fruit IN SEASON and for a short time. Also no doubt this availability of fruit helped to fatten them up for the coming winter in seasonal climates. I really don't think it's a good idea to eat a lot of fruit all the time. Maybe have splurges and then avoid it for a while, or just have a little every day. It is certainly preferable to eat fruit to satisfy a sweet tooth than to binge on a lot of processed crap. All things in moderation!
