so I got that house

just had my contractor and plumbing catz check it out and give me an estimate. b/c it was bank owned, there was a lapse in time between the original scumbag owner leaving and the scumbag bank winterizing it. so, a baseboard pipe popped upstairs and the basement took some water. not a big deal since it's not a structural issue. just need to replace most or all of the heating system and gut the basement. which is actually good since now I'll be able to design it to my liking.

the work I plan to do before moving in:

- replace the pergo (sp?) with real hardwood on the main floor (cousin does hardwood floors)
- replace the tile and countertops in the kitchen
- extend the deck in the backyard and replace the wood with trex
- replace one part of my backyard fence and add a small cement ledge
- paint, clean up, etc.

Gotta really look at the basement to see what I should do there. Right now, it's sort of split into three rooms. One small room that looks like a bedroom (attached to a full bath), one unfinished "work" room with laundry and work benches, a decently sized finished room (prob used as an entertainment area) that opens up to a full kitchen (the guinea kitchen, many call it). It's got a door that walks out to the backyard.

I definitely want to keep the main area for entertaining and the kitchen (I get hard for that). The question is what to do with the two other rooms. Will need to keep the unfinished room for laundry, work space and storage. But that back room is the question. If I can extend it a bit, I'd really like a wine cellar (to make homemade wine) and a cigar smoking area.

I hope this all amounts to me having sex with women. Finally.

most importantly. is there room for the framed construction paper? votive candles? long pieces of grass sticking out of a glass vase with rocks in it?!??!

Every basement should be converted to a home theater IMHO

If you need a good deal on sweet pre finished hardwood let me know

I can get
Armstrong
Bruce
Lauzon
Mercier
Mirage(the best)

the durability and finish is leaps and bounds better than a sand and finish app. Especially when they formulate aluminum oxide into the finish. I'm sure your cousin will try to talk you out of it, but that's common for floor sanders to not know shit about products.

Translation - you're connected and somebody on a crew will shake down a bidness man to get everything you need.

Buy all your home theater cables from monoprice.com, even if your fag cousin works at bestbuy.

LCD's and plasma's are whats "in" but you can pick up a 67" LED DLP for dirt fucken cheap. Blows away the competition.

And if you buy pussy speakers, you're gonna get pussy sound. So don't puss out.

Oh and if you're going hardwood you'll need some sound dampening shit. Just sayin.

This is far off in the future though.

Congratulations, KB, I hope it brings you a lot of happiness and you find home ownership rewarding, I mean that! :qt:

Sounds like you got yourself a nice little bank owned prop...My dad did the same thing but the house needs some minor work.

Congrats

congrats!
