They call him Flipper, Flipper, faster than lightning,
No one you see, is smarter than he,
And we know Flipper, lives in a world full of wonder,
Flying there under, under the sea!

Awwww, that's what you meant. That's true of track and field also?perkele said:If you are the best swimmer in the world then you can win close to 10 golds in the Olympics. If you are the best wrestler in the world you can only win one gold medal in the Olympics. So basicly there's nothing impressive in Phelps other than his the best male swimmer at the moment. The amount of medals won't mean a shit.

Phelps will go down as probably the greatest for now but I have to believe Thorpepo may have been better. Phelps did not beat him when they were both in their prime.
Phelps beat Thorpe's records but all records are being smashed now as a product of the new pools and swimwear.
Basikstylz said:Thorpe retired.... and Phelps was inches from beating him last time they raced. And Phelps is in his Prime NOW, Not back when they raced. Phelps in his prime would beat Thorpe in his prime, even without the new pools/swimwear.
billfred said:Nah - don't agree. Thorpedo dominated when we was younger all the way until he retired. Nobody beat him, including Phelps.
Basikstylz said:Well.... Phelps almost beat him when he wasn't in his prime. yes I know.... A loss is still a loss.but Torpedo has what? 5 golds in two games? Phelps has how many?? is it 9 now? sounds like Phelps is a little more dominating...Just sayin.
perkele said:Half from relays.
perkele said:I will tell you all what's impressive.
Greek weightlifter Pyrros Dimas won gold in 1992, 1996 and 2000. In 2004 Olympics he was still able to take bronze.
