I've never twitted, but like it's the 3rd fastest growing social expression vehicle behind facebook and myspace at roughly 6 million unique visitors, and 55 million visits in February of this year. It hits me as funny cause to twit means to begrudge or basically talk shit to someone and hurt them. I've never twitted, I'm a newb and online culture is a new thing for me, first and last board -God Willing-...
Anyway, it's growing at exponential rates, we are doing a study at the university on two separate topics first a shift from substance to process when it comes to understanding the self. Second how self expression, stimulation rates of technology imformation, and emotions are all related. It's fascinating to say the least. It' s not all bad, but it doesn't look all that good either. Where we are headed.
The kick I get out of this is in a speed dating study in NYC, it was found out that graduate student males who grew up in a more rural environment, and from an affluent family were the most enticing, charismatic, and alluring to the females. I grew up in a suburb outside of Kansas City... less than 30,000 peeps, both parents are physiciians, so I fit in this category. Ego was boosted when I read this article. Anyway, I think a big part of it is, in the Midwest you grow up telling everyone what you are doing that day, like they care, thing is your daily agenda is a way of expressing yourself and connecting with others... that you share the same values of getting shit done. However on the East Coast it is mind your own business. The West Coast is well way too ethnic and diverse to connect through similar activities.
Now, Self Expression is at an all time high, the need for meaning, and identity of Individualism through technology is and proving you got the 'image' has skyrocketed.
The prime imperative now is to fit in a certain image, and do your best to appear as cool or attractive as you can be. Basically play the part on stage the best you can. Values, principles, the things that take time and effort, and cannot be perceived directly, like Character... are well not conducive to our culture.
Tangent sorry...
Either way, no I do not Twitter, Yet. 4 years ago I was dogging everyone left and right for being phone obsessed and ranting Fight Club Style about Brand Identity, and You are not your Nokia type attitude... I did all these papers too in Grad School on a Mac...LOL.
Point is, I can't dawg on 'Tweets' cause I may end up being a douche ranting like I do here.
Course where would you guys be, without me and BikiniMom?
LOL
Hey Mags... how things with that chic?
I have a hunch. However Restraint would be best here.
