I dont understand. are they good for your immune system or bad?

right this is what we hear. about the lowering of the immune system. But people with HIV or AID are having good results from the stuff.. Can i get an explaination thanks..

Steroids can have what is called a serum effect on the body. This is where the body sees the foreign substance you put in it as a threat and uses the immune system to attack it. This causes flu like symptoms fevers etc. Someone correct me if I am wrong but I believe in this state when and if your body has this response your body becomes more open to other viruses attacking since it is using its resources to try to fend off the aas's. Also I believe your body can be very open to viruses when you come off of aas's due to the crash that many people experience. I believe the main benefit to people with HIV from AAS's is the fact that they help pervent the extreme weight loss experienced from the virus. Preventing this weight loss helps the body stay stable and ready to fight off infections and viruses. I don't believe the same would be true in a normal healthy person.

i believe they boost your red blood cells, which is good.

HT you may be confusing the role of red blood cells and white blood cells. white blood cells fight infections.

it doesn't seem AAS would have a role in improving your immune system, but may help the body gain strength and weight from the ravages of illnesses like AIDS and cancer and from severe burns and spinal cord injuries. AAS are prescribed by docs for these types of conditions.

AAS improve one arm of the immune system and weakens the other. I cant remember which, I think its cellular immunity function that weakens.
