So are all you're gyms filled with pretenders?

It's the new year, has the annual flood of people begun?

I train at home on my Tony Little Gazel so I don't have to worry about these kinds of things.

hmmm....good question...I haven't really noticed. I think maybe they will wait till monday to start

Yeah. These are the types who start the new year off with a hangover and a day off, and, hell, since it's a friday they knock off Friday, too. And then there's the weekend.

So from Monday for roughly two weeks, keep your eyes out for the undisciplined slobs to walk inthe door.

Should get into gear on the 12th and 19th ( a couple weeks off to rest, and after payday). Then into full swing till the beginning of March.
The more in the gym, the more pleasant to look at in the street.
Afraid of a little competition?

I hope to have my own juicehead dog someday.

And the home gym too.

I HATE the first few weeks of a new year. Everyone just remember, they will soon go away. Untill next year. :D

Yeah, it started at my gym as well...

About 5-7 dumb asses working their abs for about 40 minutes a piece and then pulling up their shirt and looking in the mirror.

Along with the tool who asked me to convert machine bench presses to free weights. ("How much is that in free weights?")

morons...

good thing they will all quit showing up in a coupel weeks.

It's the time of year when people walk around with clipboards.

I'm all for people getting in shape but I hate the gym when it's packed.

At least the PTs will have a little more prospects to train.

I love having a home gym at times like this.

I concur.

In this little town, the only time that's worse is the week before Spring Break.

I didn't see anything worthy of a story today, but it'll happen.

I'd love to hear SSME's recounts of his recent gym encounters.

No one has yet decided to grace my gym with their newbie presence. I hope that is not a sign of just how awful they are going to be.

Riding the exercise bike with a weight belt, that is a classic.

Riding the bike with a weight belt is good, but I have a guy at my gym who rides the exercise bike with a laptop. He has to drag the bike over to where the outlet is so he can plug it in and there's wires all over the place.

Plus, he's sweating up a storm. Dripping all over. Yuck!

WOW! that is bad!

Yup all the new years resolutioners will be joining now. Then again my gym is one of the top in the city (hell even country) so it's always packed silly. Lucky it's a 24 hour gym.

haha Ive gotten that one more then enough times!! Funny to see how often it comes up. I like to go over to the dumbell rack when all the little homies are doing dumbell presses and curl twice what they press. haha

That's one of my favorite things to do as well.

so anyway, in answer to his stupid question

when its 1 2 3 4 5 on the machines, is that incrimints of 10?

so like 10 20 30 40 50 ?

We have another guy at our gym that has been working with the personal trainer for as long as I've been a member (1 year +) and is STILL working with 10 lb dumbbells. Ugh!

What is even funnier is when some little chump picks up the same weights as you and starts swinging and holding his breath like a m'fer and turns purple. And when you dont pay attention to him it pisses him off even more.

lol The little time I`ve spend as a member of a public gym, I never really noticed too much stuff going on. When I`m training it takes a lot of concentration and energy for me to get through a workout that I don`t even notice my surroundings I guess.

My biggest complaint would be lack of available equipment when I need it. Even then I`m flexible. But these are funny stories.

Another point for us home gym guys.

I notice them because they are always very red in the face and out of breath. I like watching the ones who try to look like they have been doing it for years and go non-stop for 2 hours on their first week. I am waiting for the ambulance.

physical disability maybe?

The only time it bothers me is if the equipment I want is being used for leaning on, a conversation pit, or a place to sit their cell phone, water, whatever. But we have regulars who do the same thing, so I can't blame it all on the new people. :(
