Sluggish Thyroid and Testosterone levels

My son is 30 and was "diagnosed" with Hypothyroidism. I ain't no Dr., but I am a Fitness Specialist and I constantly hear folks telling me their docs said they had this-and-that, many times this -and-that was from low hormone levels or inefficient digestion causing lack of nutrient utilization. Adrenal exhaustion also mimics Thyroid trouble. The doc did not check his pituatary gland, Test levels, or Adrenals. He has been under severe stress and sleep deprivation for 2 months. What do you think is the deal?

I would Demand a Blood test, 2 months is 2 months too long to let this drag on.

the sleep deprivation alone would do it..

however when i was 19 i went with 4 hours of sleep for 6 weeks and was physically active 4-8 hours of each day..

so there may be an issue, or misdiagnosis of hypo...

have him see an endo..

From personal experience, I would try to find a holistic/alternative doctor. These people are more concerned with how the body's systems work together and look more at how the patient is feeling versus just blood tests. My personal opinion is to find someone who works with Armour Thyroid instead of the inferior Synthroid (or equivalent generic).

If worse comes to worse, have the doc to check for auto-immune issues. I'm not implying there is an autoimmune disease, but I would consider that to be a last case scenario if they can't figure out anything else.

He needs to go to a specialist and have a full battery of blood tests and see exactly what is going on. Stress is a major issue for men and causes all sorts of health issues however to be 30 years of age and not bounce back so to speak after several months, I would demand he have a full workup done.

you cannot depend on docs to diagnose you accurately. they are more concerned with their golf game than their patients.. i've said this many times and its true. i know cause i play a poker home game with docs, one got called for surgery during the game and he insisted on finishing his hand while the patient was in the hospital dying. docs are scumbags, most of them that is.

a holistic doc like said above will care more about you but will still have to send you to get blood work done. you want to know what i would do? if you insist on using docs, you need to see multiple docs, not just 1.. laws of averages, i would think if you see 5 or 6 docs and get their opinions you will find a competent one.

otherwise get your own blood work done like i do. its easy and you don't have to go through any docs. sites like privatemdlabs.com .. you can see what is abnormal then use online pharmacies to order your own drugs.. i am my own doctor, all a doctor does is the same thing.. he sends out for 'tests' (most of which are a waste of money) finds whats wrong with you, then puts you on drugs. so why not cut out the middle man and do it yourself? thats what i do.

now in your son's case lets back up to the start. what is his lifestyle like? from what you write he has poor sleeping habits which can cause even more issues.. but if the underlying problem is causing the sleep problems we need to back up and solve that first. now a doc is gonna put him on sleep meds for the rest of his life and not fix the root problem, this happens in almost all cases.
