Slimming Down for Track.

Canadian Jelly

New member
I've been bulking since early september and I've put on a good 20-25lbs. I'm at a nice 180lbs now, but I've just joined a track club, and our first competition is on December 6th. Practice is 3 times a week until then.

Originally I was planning to do Mr.X's CKD diet, except without carbs, i seriously doubt that I'd be able to train running 3 times a week and lift weights.

Anyone have any ideas on what I can do to slim down for track? Any ideas are welcome.

Canadian Jelly,

NO, I would not recommend you even think of low carbs when doing track and weights.

I would recommend going to at least weight x 13 in your cal and doing these ratios: 30%protein/40%carbs/30% fat on training days--meaning, track days--and 50% protein/30% carbs/20% fat on non-training (non-track) days.

Candian jelly,
i couldnt have told you anything better. Speaking from experience, i tried to body build and run track t the same tim ean dit is the mo st counterproductive thing that you can do. Just eat a lot of food and a well balanced diet and you should tear it up. Good luck!

Wait, isn't 'weight x 12" the maitenance calorie formula? Or am I mistaken? Or is there some reason that I'm not aware of, that 'weightx13 ' would be a good idea?

BMR=weightx12

we're bumping you up to x13 for the activity level

question on bmr formula?

Mr.X you state it being 12xbodyweight
Kakdeisal states it being 15xbodyweight

which should I use?
btw I've always been a skinny kid but now at 31 I'm not as skinny.

yeah definately keep above your maintenance calories.. besides running track and lifting wieghts will only improve your conditioning..

I'm not kakdeisal...but I will tell you that scientific literature can be shown that provides the normal BMR (basal metabolic rate) ratio as being weight x 12.
