sled dragging questions

hey i plan on gettting a sled soon. i was wondering is sled dragging a good form of cardio? will it be ok to drag in the morning as soon as i get up as am cardio. would u recomend building my own or just buying the one on elitefts. and if i build my own waht to use for straps and harnesses and stuff. do you know any good sites for sled dragging. i found dave tates article on it and go ideas but its always good to know more. :)
 
You can buy one from Dave...and that's a great sled; likewise, Dave is a worthwhile guy to give your money to. Unsurpassed customer service, if you ask me.

You can also build one. I've seen people have one made by a welder, or use an old pallet, etc... Be like Martha Stewart and use whatever you have laying around the house. :D

The rope you can probably get at a hardware store. We have one for pulling and one double-looped for ankle dragging and doing shoulder work with the sled.

You can drag it slow like they do...super slow, like a walk, etc...

OR...

You can do sprints with it like I do. Both work different types of cardio.

Doing sprints with that much weight...truly fries your legs and your lungs...

hey b fold and spatts thanks for the info i had read the article by dave about dragging your butt into shape and gave me great ideas. you two just gave me more thanks. i was thinking of ordering the one off of elitefts. is that the one you were talking about spatts or is there another one you get direct from dave? thnaks and i cant wait to start dragging:D
 
I don't suggest that sled at all. You could build a much better one yourself...and can add A LOT more weight to a different one. You simply just can't add enough weight to the one from EliteFitnessSystems.

hey b i was only geting the sled for recovery after my workouts. i dont really need much weight to get the blood flowing. i am not gonna be using it for stregnth for now;) . i will also be riding my bike a few hours a day once the sun starts stayin up and it gets warm. i started a few days ago and my squat felt like nuthing today and it was a 20 pound pr on 5x5:D . i have been so lethargic all went i gotta get my gpp up. that is all i need sled for is gpp and the bike will hit the rest of my gpp once i start cutting in 3 weeks for summer.:fro:
 
hey spatts if i get the elite fts one should i get the regular or the kit with ankle and chest harness. does it make a difference if u use chest vs waist set up.

Here is one idea. The guy who made this one loaded full kegs onto it. He would run it like a 'medley'. Carry 2 kegs and load them...then drag the sled back.

A guy who has been training with me on Sunday's actually has his brother make some of his eqiupment. He has a sled and is picking up his farmers walk implements tomorrow from him.

You just need a flat piece of steel (I suggest something about 4' long or so) with 2 long pipes coming out of it...to load the plates on.

mine is just a wooden box with an extra piece of 1x6 in the front so it doesn't get caught up in the grass.

i need somebody to sit in it though, cement pieces just aren't enough
