Situation at my Hotel

Alright guys, check this out. We offer Monthly rates and around November this lady stays here for months. Fast forward to 2 months ago and all of a sudden she becomes my supervisor, pretty much assistant manager. Only because she has open availability. I have been here since August and I feel like I should have been offered an assistant manager job or something.

Anyway, she cant compose herself. A bus of guests came, about 25, and all wanted to check in at the same time. She was pretty much freaking out from what I was told. Yelling at guests, and being real emotional to the point where the guests checking in told her to calm down and that it was going to be alright. Someone came to ask her a question about getting a microwave while she was checking in guests, and she told him off yelling at him telling him he was gonna have to wait. I would have justchecked everybody in and told them that the people in the back of the line were gonna have to wait, and that there is nothing I could do about it since I am the only one working. That simple.

Another instance is when some lady had a seizure in the lobby and I was the only person to do something about it. She just stood there while I helped the lady in the lobby and I called the cops and the Ambulance.

And all the time when i come in and its busy, she is always SO overwhelmed. Lots of things to do and she cant keep her composure. Its annoying me

Also, she went to this class to learn Quick-books, and she couldn't finish it because it was too hard. IMO Quick-books looks fucking ridiculously easy as shit. I could probably learn it in one day.

Anyway, I feel like the only reason she is assistant manager is because she lives at the hotel, and can work whatever hours they need her to. I feel like opening up my availability and telling my Manager I want to be assistant manager, or something. I feel like its unfair, Ive been here longer, then all of a sudden this guests living here is my supervisor and she can barely compose herself in the smallest situations.

Should I say something to the manager/owner? Maybe wait for a couple more instances before saying something? Should I open up my availability and try and work myself up? We are about to be a chain motel so it could have potential, and I could also gain experience as an assistant manager. Even if my pay didnt go up (since the owner is losing money every month right now) I feel like it would be worth it to get the experience.


Cliff notes:
-Lady lives at my hotel for months
-All of a sudden they hire her and she is my Supervisor
-I feel like its bullshit because she isnt a good leader/cant compose herself
-Im wondering if I should say something to manager/owner about me advancing or moving up and opening up my availability and offer to do whateevr it takes to get moved up.
 
I wouldn't say anything about her being incompetent and obv poor CS skills. Just because even though you want them to SEE how shitty she is, it looks bad to point that out...unless they ask you about her.
But definitely Tell them your goals! Give them all your strengths and potentials. They will see whom is better at the end of the day.
In the meantime....do something to her to render her "unworkable" lol
 
Or have someone send in an anonomous letter complaining about her. It will at least open their eyes to how she handles things

If the owner is losing money every month, why is he expanding? Are you sure about this detail, because it doesn't seem to add up.
 
Maybe they are about to hire 250,000 new employees. :confused:
 
Lmao, he pays the difference out of his own pocket. He has money, he owns a lot of shit. Its about to be a travelodge woohoo.

I guess I wont purposely bring it up, but ill keep my eye out for more instances. Bitch comes in here and all of a sudden gives me a list of janitor duties I have to do at night audit shift, thinks she owns me for something
 
Don't say anything to the owner. Chances are he knows. And hotel guests can be very forthcoming when treated poorly. You'd do well to spend your energy shining and doing your best to overcome her incompetence. If you are asked, be honest but be professional. If you really want that position show that you can handle it and handle it well. Show some patience and restraint. Sounds as though that is what she is lacking.
 
I think we are all missing the bigger picture here why the fuck do you work at a shitty hotel. Grow up and get a real job. Just playing glad if you do approach the manager just make sure to leave to coworker out of it.

Approach the manager with examples of why you would be a good selection for the job and simply state you are ready to be a more involved part of the management team as well as being ready to shoulder more responsibility.

Whatever you do don't compare yourself to the lady that's the quickest way to end communication because then you are basically questioning your managers decision to promote her and he will go on the defensive. It is not uncommon to have more then one assistant manager I would see if you could work up and provide a good example . The manager will see your hard work and ultimately let the other staff go or bust her back.
 
Be sure to list your accomplishments youre going to mention to your boss here for us to review.

Get real CW, Glad takes a good amount of time to vet each of his jobs before he accepts. Im sure theres nothing at all amiss with this organization.
 
I wouldnt do shit, if you open availability and get promoted to assistant manager or something for the same pay but maybe more hours you may have to quit your other jobs and then settle in that new position just to later be fired because there is no budget because the hotel is down hill, be careful bro...
 
i dunno how one goes about working their way up the ladder in this sitch, but for what it's worth i think you'd be a really good assistant manager
 
firstly if u need an angry customer send me details bro and ill run that hoe into the ground to your bosses. secondly u should move into the hotel. free rent and then u can be supervisor. or take some beast with that hella trash her room, throw her sunglasses away, poo in her toilet and dont flush. hell crap on her floor. run amok, cause shit and hell. let noone fuck with you, stand ur ground like a man. and when u get fired get a real fucking job like a trade or something you penis wrangler
 
The way to move up is by taking on added responsibility and making it obvious to the owner you want to move up in the proper way.

Move quickly, be friendly, and show up on time.

yea good point! But we are expanding....ill just keep doing what Im doing and eventually get ask again once I know it would be an ideal place to move up

Yea wtf bor? Seriously, thats what made me mad in the first place. I believe that its because she has open availability, and she was working at another hotel when they fired her. So she had a couple months experience lol wtf
