QT made a thread yesterday regarding Muscular Development creating a digitial women's BB magazine.

They've got a petition going, and I'm asking all of you to sign it, PLEASE. I don't care if you're a female BB or not - just show some support.

here's the petition link:

http://www.petitiononline.com/FBBMD/petition.html

I think there are quite enough large clitori, deep voices and tough chicks out there. No thanks!

Signed.

Blechman actually asked me for my phone number awhile ago, through one of his employees via the PM system on t-Nation....

I thought it was a shady as fuck move to contact a writer for a particular company through their own PM system instead of directly asking the company for my contact info...

You should post on the MD forum. They'd probably welcome your input and it would be good exposure.

It's shady to have contacted me via PM on a site where I was on staff instead of going through the site admins/owners. Unprofessional, really....I thought very poorly of them after that.

-and-

Actually, I just picked up a gig for a competing magazine. But...out of professional courtesy, I generally avoid posting where there's a staff who I compete with for readers.

:)

Honestly, I think very poorly of most of MD's staff, and they have to do a bit better than having some 45 year old men who keep saying "Keep it real" to in fact, keep it real...

Right before MD was "hardcore" it was "All Natural" no lie...and their steroid expert was the "Muscle Gourmet" and his articles were about how to make low fat pizza, not using steroids.

No lie. Low fat Pizza.

It's just not a crowd I would like to be associated with, unless I want a low fat pizza, honestly. And I'm sure they wouldn't welcome my input, since I had their magazine name and url and half their staff banned on steroid.com.

:qt:

Sorry...this is probably more explanation than you wanted...but I just don't like those dudes over there at all.

I could tell you some inside stuff about most of the staff there...it's just (mostly) a shocking collection of stuff that goes on there. Bake me a Prop-eroni Pizza...

No seriously.....As an example...you know those little pharmacies that used to advertise in the waaay back of MD? Guess which one of their writers owned a piece of that pie...

:)

LOL!

None of this surprises me. They're gaining popularity FAST, tho - and it looks like all the big names are jumping on the wagon. (except Jay Cutler - he signed with FLEX. lol :D )

How do you go from "All Natural" to "Hardcore" ...it's beyond me...how do you take a dude who was writing articles on cooking, and publishing cookbooks, and promote him as a steroid expert? It's just shocking....I don't see it as credible.

Honestly....he's probably the dude I like the most over there too. Half of them are total asshats in my estimation. They spammed steroid.com with their links until we put a stop to it...

This is shitty and elitist of me, but in a professional sense, they would have to have between 10-20x as many members as they currently have to make it worth my time to bother with them at all. I work with Isteroids, Steroid.com, Mesorx, EliteFitness, SteroidSuperBoard, AlinBoard, SteroidEncyclopaedia....

None of those sites has any less than double the amount of MD's site, and a few have 20x as many.

Yeah - I'm a member of several different boards, but I always come back to EF. There's so much information and a huge knowledge base here. The time I spend on MD is for chatting/bullshitting/networking purposes.

Here's the best way to figure out what sites/forums you need to online network on:

Go to google.
Do a search on the keywords that define (or are common on) the area you want to succeed in.
Network on the top 5 sites that come up.
Forget the rest.

In my case, when I google keywords for my profession (Steroid information, lets say), I am already working with the top 5 sites. (MD is not one of them, BTW :) )...and the top 10 already have multiple articles from me posted by members ...

That's your best bet for using the internet to network, IMHO. It's kind of ruthless and dismissive of any sites which aren't useful...but try it, and you'll see you get results much faster that way, than by chatting on random forums.

If you need a hand with anything, drop me an e-mail.

As far as the magazine goes, it's my favorite because the info fits what I do. All the women's mags are useless. (trying to change that! ;) )

As far as their discussion board - I like the people on it and instantly felt welcome. Not always that way when you go someplace new. MD will not be able to compete with the big bb sites just because they're so new...but maybe they don't want to.

EF is a good site - the guys on the steroid discussion forum are awesome. They let me hang out here like I'm one of the guys. ;)

no large clit comments or I'll slug ya.

That's quite alright. I want nothing to do with them...in a financial sense (looking at Amazon earlier today), I'm outselling their current steroid author, book for book, and looking at Google, my name with steroids gets more hits than his also.

I don't need to bother with them, frankly. They've been promoting their steroid dude's career for 6-7 years, and I'm killing him in virtually every measure of success. Their website + every website owned by each of their contributors has less members than the first site who published me.

I simply don't need to bother with them to continue doing well with my career..if they were useful for me, I'd bother. I'm a professional, and I'm telling you why I don't bother with them. That's it...nothing more nothing less.

And by the way...I've already had run ins with half their staff on the 'net and I said the same thing I'm saying here. In person it'd be no different, on my end. I've got into it with several of their writers on several sites....you should at least know your facts before you post a link to their site and tell me to get into it with them...when I already have.

Hahaha lets all bow down to the great steroid guru, Anthony Roberts. lol

C',mon...it's not like that...but...I mean..if I'm beating their top dude, and professionally/financially I don't need to bother with them. Just how I see it.

I will definitely sign a petition to see pics of you in a digital magazine.

Try steroid.com...the members there are pretty sympathetic to bodybuilding type-stuff....GetBig.com is also....

I have been to both those boards and none of them have even close to a pro FBB as MD does plus MD has a lot of pro's over there to back there shit up. I dunno about most people but I like to get my dieting and training info from people that actually walk the walk and not just talk. :)

agreed. I was talking about this with a friend last night at the gym. I would NEVER hire a trainer who didn't look better than me. ...and I mean MUCH better than me.

This was in reference to the fat trainers at my gym - but it carries over to the internet as well.

I don't diet, so I wouldn't know, and I don't bodybuild so it's a moot point insofar as my own personal experience goes.

However, I'm of the understanding that Ronnie Coleman gets his diet and training done by Chad Nichols, who doesn't even look like he works out.

It seems to me that people who aren't very high up in the ranks of BB'ing go to "Coaches who walk the walk" and people who are at the top just go to someone who "Produces results" ...ie like 8 straight Mr.O wins. Dan Duchaine did contest prep for half the top 10 one year of the Mr.O and he didn't diet or workout much at the time...

Just a thought...if an 8x Mr.O doesn't ask bodybuilders for diet advice...why do You?

Again, just trying to give you something to think about.

yea sometimes the whole trainer thing is a hit or miss..
I watched one trainer over the last 2 years turn himself from a pile of goo into a quality well rounded physic...

seeing that he did it in 2 years I was impressed becuase seeing him after that if you had not know him. you would have assumed he had been lifting for the last 10 years .he looks that good.

did he still have the info he has now when he was a tub of goo? Yes he prob did .But I still would not have let him train me no matter how much he knew at that point becuase he did not walk the walk...But looking back it was more of a ego thing thinking I was better then him...becuase I was physically .But his knowledge was great at ether point before or after the transformation

It all about presentation I suppose.

fair - but if you're hiring someone with no knowledge on their background or accomplishments - what else do you have to base it on?

Everyone knows about Chad Nichols - and most people have NEVER seen him. lol His reputation proceeds him, because he has proof in the form of Ronnie Coleman and other IFBB's to back him up.

I'm talking more about Joe Blow trainer at gym XYZ that I've never heard of. He'd better be in good shape, because his body is his only proof that he knows what he's doing. Same with people online. There are some people here that I don't know from Adam. I'd be much more inclined to take their advice as 'solid' if I know what they look like.

It's part of the reason I'm so open with my own pictures and training log. Everyone here knows I'm not full of shit, because they can take a look at my pictures and my prep log to see what I'm doing.

As Shorty said we all know about Chad and his reputation does proceeds him. I ain’t Ronnie I am not going to presume to speak for the man I gave you my feedback on what I look for in a trainer or mentor. The thing is Chad is not the only guy training top level guys out there so I am sure I am not alone in my feelings. Bodybuilding is all about marketing and if you going to be marketing me a product service or book you better look the part that is what this sport is all about.

There is nothing wrong with giving yourself credit for the work you have done and the contributions you have made. It inspires you, as a human, to continue giving.

Attitudes like yours contibute fuckall, except contempt.

IMO. Professionally I think you may be burning your bridges on that one. I understand not agreeing with various people but if you are a businessman you sometimes have to deal with people you don't like to get ahead in life. I think you may be a little short sighted. MD is in its infancy and has got several elements that I think will make it a very successful board. That board unlike most has a mag publication behind it, well know pro BB's, and steroid info. That type of knowledge is what most novice's want. That board will take off. Watch what I am saying. If I wrote articles I would prefer to be pulished in mags than a online forum. Internet is like the constitution-a living document that is always changing and growing. What do you do when MD moves to the top of that internet search list? Just something for thought.

The top trainers in bodybuilding (from what I see) don't usually look the part...not the top 3-4 anyway (contest prep guys). The top guys who train professional athletes wouldn't get out of bed for what the top BB trainers make in a year...and they look nothing like (and can't play as well) as the athletes they work with.

Top trainers (guys who have the background and ability) wouldn't bother with the IFBB...they work in something called the NFL. The top guys in who train the champions in bodybuilding make nothing compared to the worlds top trainers. So when we're talking about the "top" guys here...we're really talking about a third or fourth tier level trainer, compared to the best in the world.

I'm already writing for a magazine, actually. As for online search engine stuff...right now, ISteroids is killing everybody for most of the areas I am interested in, and it shares very good ranking with Steroid.com, Elite, and Meso in every area I want to be found for online.

Isteroids is the shit for SEO.

Besides...bridges are never burnt. Money fixes them. If MD thought I would be an earner for them, they'd pick me up, regardless of what I said. I have seen this more than once, with many employers. Earn and learn, I guess, is the lesson I got.

I have to agree, the women in bodybuilding get no respect, no endorsements, and very, very, little compensation in the form of prize money for all the hard work the go through. They are no different in the fact of being dedicated and hard working when compared to the male side of the sport.

Don't compare an apple to an orange this is a bodybuilding site I am only talking about bodybuilding. I could give a rats ass about an NFL trainer and his methods I have no desire to be a line backer. I wouldn't go to a mechanic for medical advice so why would I have interest in and NFL trainer?

I think we may have some diffrent ideas on who a top trainers for BB would be. I am looking for guys that know there stuff about conditioning and what it takes to get me at my best condition. Like I said when I look for a trainer I look at who they trained as well as if they competed in the past and yeah what they look like right now means something to me too.
