I have been to both those boards and none of them have even close to a pro FBB as MD does plus MD has a lot of pro's over there to back there shit up. I dunno about most people but I like to get my dieting and training info from people that actually walk the walk and not just talk. :)

agreed. I was talking about this with a friend last night at the gym. I would NEVER hire a trainer who didn't look better than me. ...and I mean MUCH better than me.

This was in reference to the fat trainers at my gym - but it carries over to the internet as well.

I don't diet, so I wouldn't know, and I don't bodybuild so it's a moot point insofar as my own personal experience goes.

However, I'm of the understanding that Ronnie Coleman gets his diet and training done by Chad Nichols, who doesn't even look like he works out.

It seems to me that people who aren't very high up in the ranks of BB'ing go to "Coaches who walk the walk" and people who are at the top just go to someone who "Produces results" ...ie like 8 straight Mr.O wins. Dan Duchaine did contest prep for half the top 10 one year of the Mr.O and he didn't diet or workout much at the time...

Just a thought...if an 8x Mr.O doesn't ask bodybuilders for diet advice...why do You?

Again, just trying to give you something to think about.

yea sometimes the whole trainer thing is a hit or miss..
I watched one trainer over the last 2 years turn himself from a pile of goo into a quality well rounded physic...

seeing that he did it in 2 years I was impressed becuase seeing him after that if you had not know him. you would have assumed he had been lifting for the last 10 years .he looks that good.

did he still have the info he has now when he was a tub of goo? Yes he prob did .But I still would not have let him train me no matter how much he knew at that point becuase he did not walk the walk...But looking back it was more of a ego thing thinking I was better then him...becuase I was physically .But his knowledge was great at ether point before or after the transformation

It all about presentation I suppose.

fair - but if you're hiring someone with no knowledge on their background or accomplishments - what else do you have to base it on?

Everyone knows about Chad Nichols - and most people have NEVER seen him. lol His reputation proceeds him, because he has proof in the form of Ronnie Coleman and other IFBB's to back him up.

I'm talking more about Joe Blow trainer at gym XYZ that I've never heard of. He'd better be in good shape, because his body is his only proof that he knows what he's doing. Same with people online. There are some people here that I don't know from Adam. I'd be much more inclined to take their advice as 'solid' if I know what they look like.

It's part of the reason I'm so open with my own pictures and training log. Everyone here knows I'm not full of shit, because they can take a look at my pictures and my prep log to see what I'm doing.

As Shorty said we all know about Chad and his reputation does proceeds him. I ain’t Ronnie I am not going to presume to speak for the man I gave you my feedback on what I look for in a trainer or mentor. The thing is Chad is not the only guy training top level guys out there so I am sure I am not alone in my feelings. Bodybuilding is all about marketing and if you going to be marketing me a product service or book you better look the part that is what this sport is all about.
