O.k. so I have knots in my serratus anterior, diaphragm, lats, and obliques on my right side. I have been getting massages and working the trigger points in the muscles, but the muscle, keeps spasming like crazy. I think it starts at the Serratus Anterior and then the others chime in. Has anyone else been through this and what did you do?
I'm taking extra Ibuprofen, applying heat and cold therapy 20 minutes each when I have the muscle in a stretch, of course working the trigger points in the muscle.... but is there any other method people have found that works for getting a muscle out of spasm?? I know about contracting reciprocal muscles but that's not really possible on your side. I have worked my erectors also. It just sucks because most of the muscles assist in inspiration and expiration and just sitting in one spot you are continuously using them. Actually stressing the scalenes also so some neck pain is getting added on.
Ayeyeye....

The only thing that I've ever found that helps me correct cervical or truncal muscle spasms is my chiropractor ... sorry ... I have chronic spine problems so when mine goes haywire it's usually symptomatic of something bigger out of alignment.

Temporary fix/relief (in addition to the ibuprofen you're already using) HOT HOT shower pounding on the area in question can sometimes cause things to release. Coupling muscle relaxants with the anti-inflammatory can ease things up, too.

I hope you're feeling better soon!

Thanks! Yeah I've been doing the moist heat thing. I snagged some Tylenol 3's from thin air... and those seem to help. I can feel no pain but I feel where it is tight.
My friend's a chiropractor maybe I'll get him to check it out this weekend!
:)
