Don't know where you got the idea immigrants are on the bottom of the food chain. In fact if you exclude Mexicans, the household income of immigrant families exceeds the national average. They are less likely to live below the poverty line, and as many are not US citizens, are ineligible for welfare or social security.

So, you are saying that simply because I do not have an academic scholarship to my university I did not work hard in high school?

I said that to remind Warik about his individualistic view of the US. I want to remind him that just because someone does not get a scholarship, does not mean that he is lazy...it is just that they had different things going on in their lives that affected them. Therefore, people are affected by their environment and community and cannot pretend like everything they do and accomplish is a direct result of their action (or inaction).

in raw numbers this true. but since there are more poor whites in america than poor minorities, i don't see how you can justify all of the crime they commit on their poverty level. please tell me why there are more minorities in prison than white people.
